Hey guy's wondering if anyone can reccomend a good and cheap sling for my AR. It has the standard swivels one in the stock and one up front. I bought one that was "supposed" to fit and it didn't and the guy offered to refund me my $$ then just disappeared.. So i'm trying to stay under $20 and I've seen quite a few in that range but I want to make sure i'm getting the right one so I know it fits before I dish out $$ for it.

Sweet, thanks Kolat that is exactly what I was looking for. Now I just need to find one for my Mossy 590 and I'll be set :).

Hey there...

I have a single point and 2 point sling (make sure to get the adjustable one). Both are made by SKT INdustries (local company) and can be found at Wade's or West Coast Armory. I just ordered the Viking Tactics Adjustable 2 point as well after taking the Insights General Defensive Rifle class this past weekend and seeing the instructors in action.

Each has a purpose...
-Single Point: Great for range or minimal movement otherwise it beats the hell out of your legs, nuts, whatever when you walk/run.

-2 Point: The adjustable 2pt rocks the house. When you are shooting or doing tactical drills you can release the slack so you can aim, switch shoulders etc. If you are moving or need to transition to your pistol, tighten the slack up and it sucks it right up to your chest out of the way and does not interfere with movement.

Like everything, it boils down to what you intend to use it for.

Hope that helps.

Vickers combat sling. It's a 2-point adjustable so you can take up slack quickly. I used to run single points almost exclusively, nice for offhand but after you'd cracked yourself in the seeds a few times while cuffing, a 2 point you can cinch up makes a lot more sense for that kind of work.

When selecting a sling, try actually moving with it. Running, climbing ****, driving or getting in and out of cars, doing the things you may have to do while using it. You'll quickly find some work for you and some don't.

I am fan of 2 point slings myself, but I mount them to the right rear and front left of the gun. I can not suggest a brand as I build my own to fit me. I have some 3 points on guns where I can not use a 2 point, usually side folding stocks.

Here is a pretty decent article on types of slings and their use, Tactical Slings

Gota say I agree with Kolat on the single point bungee sling. I would recommend the MagPul ASAP sling plate though. Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point

I have the ASAP mount, along with Magpul's MS2 sling and it rocks! 2 point to 1 point and back in seconds! Plus with the ASAP you can switch from right to left handed on the fly as well.

You know, like if a zombie badly bites your right arm, you can quickly swap to your left arm and take a few more of the bastards with you before you have to off yourself before you turn into one of them. Just sayin.

Pete, the MS2 is fairly versatile, perhaps you could make a tourniquet out of it until you could fing something to chop off the affected limb.....might at least delay having to kill yourself.

Good call, I hadn't thought of that. With the quick-adjust system of the MS2, you might be able to cinch it down pretty tight as a tourniquet by yourself with one arm. And if that delay means taking more of them with me, I'm all over it.

I should prolly practice this technique now and make sure it works before it really happens, huh?
