Yes, but I use the one from Spikes Tactical: .22LR conversion kit for AR-15 [ST2C10x] - $199.99 : Spikes Tactical Way better quality, stainless steel, and has o-rings to keep it centered in the barrel/chamber. |

There is one company out there I know of that makes a speed loader for them, but it will cost you another 2 bills for that.

The springs in the Black Dog magazines are very stiff from the factory. By leaving them fully compressed for an extended period, they'll soften up just enough. It'll be much easier to load the mags, but won't compress the springs too much so that they no longer load the rounds appropriately. Give it a shot. You'll thank me. Oh, and buy lots of spare mags. I load all mine up and then go out and have fun. Keeps from having to stop and reload every time I empty one (and they go fast... lol). | |

This is the Brownell's .22LR conversion It comes with 3 'Black Dog Machine' 27 round magazines. I loaded these Mag's with CCI Mini-Mag .22 LR, 40 grain, 1235FPS, copper coated round nose ammo. I hope the copper coated bullets will minimize leading problems. Taking it out to play tomorrow. Will report bacK. Last edited by James; 03-22-2010 at 10:19 PM. |

Well, per the Video^^^ I applied a very lite coating of anti-cease to the snout of the bolt. I then went to the 'Uber Secret TEST Center', (Thanks Jay) and ran 200 rounds through the Converted AR-15. Wow! Its a hoot! Max range is about 50 yards due to the low power of the 22LR round, before bullet drop starts being a factor. I had 9 miss-fires. The firing pin barely makes a mark on the rim-fire rounds. This may improve as the bolt 'breaks-in. The opposite can be said for my GSG5.(its a Hammer) Its well worth the investment. Way less expensive that a complete 22LR Top for your AR. Would I do it again? You bet. I just got back from Wal-Marche with 500 rounds and spent a little over $30.00. This is gonna be a great training tool! Last edited by James; 03-23-2010 at 12:26 PM. |

I was surprised at the accuracy on mine, granted it was not match quality but did very well for a 10 second conversion. They are definately worth the money IMO also.

Ran another 150 rounds through the conversion today. Not a problem. I switched to CCI Mini-Max Hollow Points. No problems to report while shooting. However the 'Clean-up' after shooting 400 rounds through the conversion took an hour. I used a Copper cleaner on the bore, and 12 patches 6 soaked in Break-Free. (I did this because the CCI ammo is Copper coated) Mopped the inside of the receiver out and re-lubed the trigger face. Reloaded the three Magazines and its ready to go again! |

I have heard good things about the conversions but I went with a dedicated CMMG upper. I have a few thousand rounds of Federal bulk pack though mine. It is awsome. Here is a link to the loaders even cheeper and you can pick up a spare extractor or mags at the same time, Loader AR-15/M16-.22LR Thumb Loader by Christie's Products |

Well, its been a while since I last posted on the .22 conversion. I took your advice and ordered a couple of accessories. A CHRISTIE & CHRISTIE MAGAZINE LOADER (Thanks Guy's)! Great idea! And a Disassembly Tool and Cleaning brush. Got them BOTH through "Black Dog Machine" They are in Middleton, ID www.blackdogmachinelic.net Last edited by James; 10-16-2010 at 04:09 PM. |

Dunno! If there was a way/demand I'm pretty sure CMMG or, Black Dog would have done it.

LOOKY>>STAG Arms AR-15 .22LR Conversion Kit At just over $200 the STAG kit more than compares to the more expensive .22LR AR-15 uppers and full guns out there. This kit is a little quirky with its cleaning requirements and details about how to use it, but from STAG, a national leader in quality ARs, the details are worth it. I like this kit too. (have not shot one yet) It uses a 'FULL SIZE' looking magazine. I prefer this style as opposed to the smaller narrower stick mag's. Last edited by James; 02-28-2011 at 08:49 AM. |
