Put an eotech on it, the acogs are'nt worth their over inflated cost unless you plan on shooting man sized objects in an oversized literbox. T |

Hey that's a great looking shooter.. welcome to the black rifle sickness. As far as loading it up goes, you have to decide what you want to use it for. Close quarters, or long range. Since it's a 16 inch w/a fixed front site, I'd say go for the lightweight room clearer. Some options to consider: Handgaurd picatinny rail Magpul, Daniel Defence, VLTOR, Yankee Hill, Larue, Troy Industries, Midwest Industries etc etc ![]() foregrip of some sort fixxed, flip down, ![]() you could keep the irons w/the carry handle, or put a backup iron site (BUIS) and a optic of some sort Aimpoint and EOtech kind of kick ass, or an ACOG if your rich. These all start at $400 and go up to a grand plus.. Kolat's point was unless your going into harms way you can get a knock off, or clone.. or a less expensive brand like barska.. then you can get down well under $200. I have a aimpoint clone on mine.. and it is just dandy (pete will tell you different! lol) aimpoint ![]() Eotech For your buttstock and grips, there are quite a few options. Magpul is pretty much a great place to start VLTOR won't treat you wrong either. grips ![]() Buttstock ![]() Personally I think you could go w/all magpull stuff and be pretty happy for not a lot of cash. |

Thanks guys.. Like I said, I haven't decided what way to go at this point.. I think the 12 guage is a better close quarters device, so I'm leaning toward more of a 50-200 yard tool.. Coyotes, or whatever. We'll see. I'm not going to do anything but shoot it and get used to it for awhile.. not gonna make any purchases for it until I know what I want.. |

But fear not, it is an AR after all and that can be changed. For longer range accuracy, you'll want something like a 18-20" barrel, in heavy, match or bull configuration. You'd want a free-floating barrel, so you'd need rails or other handguards that free-float the barrel Or you could buy a complete upper with said barrel and have two guns in one. The stock upper with irons or red dot etc for CQB, and l the longer, free-floated upper with scope for long range/coyotes. Since you mentioned coyotes... (RRA Coyote Rifle uppers) Rock River Arms: Coyote Rifle / Carbine Upper Half That ain't cheap, but like I said you'd kind of end up with two guns in one. It all depends on how much accuracy you really want/need and how much you're willing to spend to get it. You could just slap a decent scope on your rifle as is and go for it. You should expect something like 4" groups at 200 yards give or take with that setup. A quality free-float barrel and match trigger and you could be under 2" at 200 yards.

Barrel length has no effect on accuracy as long as its long enough to stabalize the projectile. Barrel length affects your sight radius using iron sights and affects velocity. T |

I wanted a short barrel to begin with.. I like the overall size. I think for now, I'll start looking for a decent scope to put on it. I'm not gonna do all the other shit; flashlight, laser..etc.. I think I'll put a light on my Mossy 12 GA instead.

Now I haven't talked to any coyotes lately to see how they feel about getting hit with .223 round from a short barreled rifle at 200 yards, so YMMV.

Nice gun. Colt is a great way to go if you're serious about shooting. You have the heavy barrel with a 1/9 twist which is nice because it stabilizes a wide range on bullet weights. If you are hunting dogs, you can go with a 45 gr. ballistic tip and that'll cook right along. If you want to shoot shorter distances but not quite cqb stuff (50-200) an ACOG would be my first choice but you can get a nice 1.5-5 variable from leupold and that would rock. IF you want a bit cheaper, the trijicon accupoint scopes get good reviews. Check out the sample list from SWFA, lots of bargains there. Quality optics and accessories from Leupold, Bushnell, Burris, Nikon and more! |

The scope looks pretty sharp, but no idea if it will hold accuracy after it's zeroed in. I plan on shooting this weekend, so I'll let you know how it goes. So far, I've installed the following, with a grand total of $168. | Gunslinger Joined: Feb 2011 From: Kennewick, WA Posts: 45 | Hard to say- it was pretty overcast here when I took it outside yesterday. That being said, I had no problem seeing the dot out to the 50 yd range (the length of my back yard). I would say that on a sunny day, anything more than 75 yds is going to be pretty iffy. Personally, I'm going to site the laser in at 50 yds, and the scope at 100- I'm not going to try and shoot from the hip at anything out past 50 yds anyways.

Dialed it in at 100 yards and it works flawlessly. I've taken it out 3 times now, and the scope has remained dialed in with no drift or readjustment needed.
