Needed some quick advice on how good a company (quality wise) International Ordinance is for their AK-47s. If anyone has experience or has heard something about them please let me know asap.

I thought the guy at the shop said International Ordinance, but it very well could have been InterOrdinance.

I happened across at least one of the forums listed (thanks by the way) while doing some research and from what I'm reading they look to be reliable and as accurate as one could expect from the platform, which is exactly what I'm looking for in an AK.

What a new I/O looks like... Notice no cleaning rod under the barrel. Maybe I'll get one for cosmetics then a real one for actually cleaning.

Wolf ammo? Please tell me it's brass and not steel... I wouldn't put any steel rounds through any of my guns, especially not a brand new one...

Anyway... that's a mighty sexy beast you have there...

Steel cases, copper jackets. I've been reading this one author (Patrick Sweeney) who talks about Wolf rounds at great length and mentions that having put thousands of their rounds down various barrels he hasn't had any problems...

Those are my "End of the world, there's no ammo to be had, I have 200 rounds to find more ammo" rounds. You can't shoot them at Wades  due to the steel cases, and that's where I'll probably shoot it the most (once I get a membership there at some point this year probably).

The look of this rifle is growing on me some, but I'm still interested in trying to hand carve a stock and handguards... First I need to find a customer looking to get rid of a nice tree.

all my guns love wolf ammo with the exception of 380 in my lcp. my ak 47 loves it, my ak 74 loves it, my ar15 loves it. ive shot about 6000 rounds of it with nary a problem. i think wolf vs brass is the same argument at arco vs chevron

Nice going Guff!

So what kind of AR are you building?
A stag mid-length with free-floating. I'll write it up in 6 months when I get the upper.

Good to hear from an actual person besides just reading about it. So long as a person isn't expecting insane accuracy I don't think (from what I've read) they should be dissapointed with the wolf... of course if someone is expecting insane accuracy they shouldn't be firing an AK in the first place. :top:

The rifle was $585ish cash and a touch over $600 credit. 30 rnd mags were $18 each minus the included one and the wolf ammo was about $7 per 20 rnds.

A buddy of mine picked up several AKs (Century Yugos (for both I believe), one an underfolder and one fixed stock) for mid $400s around Nov. '08... So the price I paid is high in general, but for what AKs are going for in the shops I've seen the price range is averaging between $700 low end and $1k high end. I've heard of some places selling Century Yugos fixed stock (what I had originally wanted) mid $500s, but I've yet to actually see one in stock at any shop nor have I heard any exact dates as to when they would be in.

I went to West Coast Armory in Issaquah. While I go to Wades to shoot and look at their selection before shooting, I like the customer service, friendliness and prices of WCA. I don't know a lot about shooting yet, but I never feel stupid asking them questions.

Ak-47

I bought an I/O AK-47 also and it did not come with a cleaning rod either.

Can someone tell me how the heck you remove the forward hand guard on that thing... I did a field strip to clean it and noticed some dirt in the hand guard area but can't figure out how to remove it.
