Your son will never forget this day. My son and I go to range a couple times a month. He is 14 and can still recall the first time I let him fire my gun at the range. He was 11 yrs old and since that day has the best respect for gun safety. Better than me at that age.

Great Job dad !! My father started me at the age of 5. Competition at the age of 10 in the NRA till the age of 13. Been shooting ever since.
My daughter who is 4 will go shooting for the first time this weekend with me at Capitol Forest. AND she will be shooting Grandpa's 10/22 that she inherited when he passed away.
Good for you Dad ! Keep the sport alive !

right on man, you can never have enough quality time with your son.

I am just starting to get into shooting and my son is a bit scared to go to the range with me, I don't want to pressure him into going but i hope he will, Maybe he will come around after i get my AR done.

Good for you Dad!!

My dad taught me to shoot when I was 4 or 5. Gave me my first pistol (H&R 4") when I was 6..

My daughter and I go shooting all the time.. I started her out at about the same age. She's developed a real addiction to firearms.. just purchased her 5th.

It's up to us parents to teach our kids the love of the sport, and most importantly, to teach them to handle firearms safely.

My dad took me shooting when I was 4. I don't remember anything about being 4, but I remember how cool I felt shooting that .22 with him. Great to see you out with your son!!!!:mfclap::proud:

My son and I have a box full of cardboard and paper in the garage to shoot pellet guns at, I even shoot soup cans in front of it. It's great, and he has a real respect for guns too. I even bought my daughter a little daisy lever action and painted flowers and vines on it. Keep up the father of the year moments!

Thanks for the positive comments guys. My son was apprehensive at first when we arrived when he heard all the shots going off :) But he was soon acclimated and paid very good attention when teaching him about gun safety and the functions of his rifle. Its a funny sight when the rangemaster has to remind a group of adults that the range was cold; all the while my son following direction.

I can tell he was enjoying himself after emptying his 3rd 25round banana clip he said "Dad... i wanna reload the other one." That made my day. I just bought a bipod and foregrip for him.... he's gonna flip.
