So I'm looking at what this this guy claims to be a Custom SS AR15 Sniper rifle with a 20” full floating German made barrel. He claims its worth 3k, never seen an AR over about 1200. Just wondering if that's what it's worth, and if not, what it is worth. Has a Leatherwood self adjusting scope on it as well.

2 thoughts:
1) the price to build that ar might be that high, I don't know, but I feel like he's wrong....
2) I think he's way wrong on his price because he obviously doesn't know what he's doing if he has a free-float barrel, then puts his bipod on the barrel, so his opinion is invalid on everything.

look closer, I'm pretty sure that is just a stand, not a bi pod, it doesn't look connected at all.

looks like one of those cheap (note the word choice there) barrel mount bipods to me.

hes got a poin, the bipod doesnt "mount" to the barrel, but wouldnt you think if it were a "sniper rifle" it would have some sort of rest?

maybe. I see what I see, and I call it like I see it.

feel free to disregard my posts....

or you could ask the guy who took the photo.... ;)

if he says it's a stand, maybe he's got some idea.

if he says it's a bi-pod....ask him for a build list.

*ask him for the build list anyway.

sniper rifles are a result of a sniper using said weapon, it doesnt carry after they use it...

Just looking at the parts I can tell you that everything except the barrel could be purchased for about $7-800 with the scope going for an extra $450-550 depending on exact modelso unless the barrel is made of adamantium, I think seller is full of crap.

The scope mounts, quality of glass and cheap accessories tell a very different tale about this rifle than what is presented. For 3K you can get a lot more rifle than a home made parts gun.

If this guy is so high speed, ask for proof targets, or better yet, have him take you to the range to see how it prints.

My thoughts.

1. MEGA lowers aren't high dollar, and I don't know of any companies off hand that use them in high end builds. Doesn't mean it's not a quality weapon, but for 3k, i'd expect to see a "better" name.

2. "Snipers" don't generally use collapsable stocks. Think about it.

3. That may be a "match" barrell, but it's not something a "sniper" would use. Go on cheaperthandirt.com or some similar website, and do a search for "sniper" in firearm accessories. The catalog will be full of useless crap, just like that bipod.

4. Like Brian said, you could build that yourself for less than 1k, then throw a quality scope on for about $400.

People love to say "tactical", and "sniper" when they sell ****. Don't fall for it. Unless you're a trained long range shooter, any decent barrelled (20 or 24 in) AR with a scope will suffice for %99 of the shooting most of us want to do.

For $3000.00 I can build you a VERY nice rifle to snipe with!

It may cost me substantially less to build, but I will let you buy it for 3K!

& barring the barrel being made from adamantium or unobtainium, that looks like a $900.00 to $1100.00ish build without the scope.

Well if you want to get technical, real snipers don't use a .223 chambered rifle in the first place, they typically start at .308 and go up from there.

I have a RRA Varmint A4 that is very similar to this rifle (minus the adamantium, of course) and I paid just over $1000 for it complete, and that was back in the height of "Obama is gonna take our guns away!" shenanigans, it may well be less now.

Now that I think about it, you could buy a brand spanking new LMT MWS or KAC SASS for around $2500 leaving you another $500 for a scope. That seller has been huffing Hoppes or something.

Just don't make the same mistake the owner probably did and pay too much for it. Better yet, buy the parts/pieces and build a better looking one for yourself.

To be even more technical, a sniper is defined as a rifleman who shoots from a concealed place and picks off the enemy. While it's usual for them to shoot at long distances it's not a requirement. Police Sniper shots in the US average just over 50 yards (150 feet). Not much more than "across the street".

If you want a "Sniper Rifle" you can pick up a Remington 700 bolt action in .308 on the cheap just about anywhere. Much closer to what a "Sniper" would actually use.

you guys do know sniper is a qualification, if not they get classified as designated marksmen...

i was in the army for almost a decade, i spent over half that time in a recon platoon and my last year in that was in the unit's sniper section...

i was just pointing out that everyone calling **** sniper rifles is flawed, yeah they usually used a M24/Remington700, but they could use most anything from the M4 to the Barrett and it would still be a "sniper rifle" its just a term people like to use to sell ****, like adding tactical to the name, doesnt make it true...

oh and that rifle is obviously not a "sniper" rifle or worth the money...
