Always going to depend on what you want. you can spend as little as 600-700, or as much as your imagination and pocketbook will allow.

I've been looking at complete "custom built" AR from Rock River. IIRC, with the options I had it was around $1200 or so ready to rock & roll, just add optics. |

They are so much fun to build though! (Not to mention, cheaper). DPMS makes good lowers. Olympic is best to stay away. Armalite stuff is spendy. Actually just started working on another last night. S&W M&P15 Lower, which will be mated to a CMMG A3 Upper. ![]() Really not sure what I'm going to do with that DPMS Hi-Rider in the picture. I bought it cause it was cheap (70 bucks). I think I might use it to make a dedicated 22 upper. Last edited by Mic; 02-05-2009 at 06:41 AM. |

| No no and no. AR manufacturers break down into a few different tiers. Opinions vary, but based on facts like mil-spec or not, MPtesting of barrels, quality of barrel steel, etc, they come out like this: Tier 1 LMT Noveske Colt Sabre Defence Tier 2 Armalite Bushmaster CMMG Stag S&W Tier 3 DPMS RRA Oly Here's the chart: |
