Bushmasters?

You guys have or know about them? Got a guy interested in a trade for a couple of my rifles.. Value? Accuracy? How hard is it to put a scope on one or would it need a whole new upper?

Thanks!

What kind?

If it is a A2 upper, you can buy adapter kits for it to put a scope on. They run anywhere from 25 to 100 bucks, just depends on who makes them.

Or if you really want an A3 upper, there are several manufactures that produce a quality Milspec Flat Top Upper. Hell, you can pick up a Bushy OEM A3 Upper receiver for about 130 bucks and move all of your internals/barrel/etc over to it.

What are the specs on it? Is it just a Standard A2 20" riffle?

Yes its an A2, Bull barrel with a single stage match trigger.

Here is a pic of it, I dont know alot about these guns, whats this worth 1k? Deciding if its worth the trade... What I read is these should be 1moa at 100 right?

I would say they are one of the better non high end AR's.

I would put them on the same level as Armalite, S&W, Stag & Remington.

What are are the specifics of the AR? Is it a 20inch Hbar, a M4, etc?

I saw your other post of what is wanting to be traded & with today's gun market being what it is, it may be a fair trade gun for guns depending on the specs of the guns.

Edit: you were too fast!

Also, thats not a bull barrel. It's a heavy barrel.

It's probably worth a bit more then 1K in the current market. If it's not exactly what you want you could probably sell the upper alone for about $600.00ish on gun broker & buy whatever upper you really wanted. Specifics about 1moa I dunno, but you could definitely hit some shit at a couple hundred yards with it!

Yeah, the ONLY reason I want to get rid of my mini, is at 200 yards you could hit a barn door, but a coyote would be pure luck. Want a .223 automatic that is accurate.

Get it, shoot it, if it's isn't exactly what your looking for sell the upper or keep it & get an upper like this for it!

Is it worth over 1k? Yes... Is it worth giving up 2 guns for 1 gun? That is completely up to you.

Is it accurate? Test it out.

The .223/556 is not really known for being the most accurate of shots at long range. Manufacturing and barrels have come a long ways in the years, and there are people who have built some very accurate AR's.

If you really want a long range shooter in the AR style, and want to keep the standard AR Upper/Lower, you may want to look into a 6.5 Grendel chambered round. It is a custom round developed by Alexander Arms specifically for that purpose.

That barrel will shoot minute-of-coyote at several hundred yards, but you're limited with the A2 configuration. Any scope would have to be mounted above the carry handle, which puts it way too high above the bore axis.

The hbar A2 upper may be worth 600 on the used market... maybe. That config is probably the least sought-after.

Could you or anyone here tell me about this?

Is the carry handle style not a good style?

Carry handle style with adjustable sites is A2. It's not bad, just limited. A flat top A3 or A4 has more options & you can attach a removable A2 carrying handle if you need to. If you NEVER plan on attaching optics to it, I say go with an A2. If you want to play around with different optics & mounts, go with an A3 or A4.

For me personally, I would never buy an A2 (carry handle only) AR.

Unless I got a smokin deal on it, and I would just swap the upper anyway.

Or if it was a Colt.

a2 uppers are fun if you want an iron sight shooter..

I had one for a bit (olympic arms). I shot it really well w/the sights.. but it sucked w/a scope and a red dot. I couldn't get the mounting platform to be stable enough to keep it sighted in.

You can do a BUNCH of stuff to try to remedy the situation..

end of the day, get a flattop for optics, get a carry handle if you want a retro ironsight shooter.

For the record.. I was shooting past 100yrds at pop cans w/the iron sights.. w/out problems.

I love Iron Sight shooting. That's why I have an A2 that I shoot mostly over my M4. Still waiting for my scope to come out for the M4, but as it goes, I enjoy shooting it with the BUIS (well I guess they really are not BUIS at the moment :P).

some things are fun with scopes, but AR's are great fun with the iron sites.

Yeah I have nothing against shooting with iron sights, its what we use to qualify out to 300m, but I just dislike the style of the A2 carry handle, and prefer either the detachable, or BUIS, it really gives you the best of both worlds.

I tend to agree, the A2 is less than optimum, although it is convenient.

I would be interested in an upgrade to an A4 someday, if one becomes easy to find and fund.

I love my A2... IMHO everyone needs to learn on ironsights first anyway.

Bushmasters are good rifles. Always enjoyed shooting them. Have yet to buy one, though.

head nod here!

I am a NooB with AR's. Thanks to da brutha prez, I deided to make my move ASAP. They have become tough to find since. Lucky me...... Poor luck for lots of others, huh?

I have an Bushmaster and a DPMS. Both are nice arms. They are both in need of accessorizing. Yet funds are tightening and patience is my goal.

When the time hits, I am anxious to shoot them.
