Probably stupid ? About m4 buffer tube.

I picked up a magpul prs sniper stock for a killer deal and realized I have the wrong buffer tube for it. Whoops. I'm new to ar's so sorry if this is a stupid question but can I just buy a a1 buffer tube and spring or will it not work? It looks totally different so I was thinking it attaches differently to the lower. Thanks for any help.

If I wasn't clear I just want to change from telestock style buffer tube to a fixed. Is it that simple or is there something special I need? Can I re use the spring/buffer?

If I'm reading this right, you currently have a collapsible stock and you want to upgrade to a PRS. Here is what you need to have:

• Collapsible stocks use carbine/multi-position buffer tubes with carbine buffer
• PRS stocks use receiver extension with a rifle length buffer

Easy to switch buffer tubes, but you'll probably want to buy an AR stock wrench for the castle nut, unless you have the right sized spanner wrench. Also, don't forget that the end plate at the back of the receiver will pop off once you loosen the castle nut, and there's a spring held in place by that plate. Look around, there should be a tutorial out there somewhere. If you can't find a walk through, let me know and i'll get you through it.

Also don't forget Mil-Spec vs commercial. Whatever you rifle is now, you need to get that, or convert it. IIRC Magpul sells most of their stocks either way, so just make sure everything is all Mil-Spec or all commercial.

Super easy swap I think I got one for around 15$ online.... More than likely yours is commercial not mil spec. Careful not to ruin that lil spring, but it's ok to cut it if you ruin a Lil of it

Thanks for the help. I did get it figured out awhile ago. I had taken mine apart a few times so no big deal, I just never had a rifle length one to compare so I didn't know if anything was different or if I could just unscrew the one and screw in the other. Now I know, easy to swap.


And for the record, the magpul prs stock is awesome...
