Ok.... I know everyone has their own opinion on what is "best", but I'm still gonna ask..

I'm relatively new to the black gun arena, and I'm getting ready to do a 5.56 build.

Who builds the best parts?

-Trigers/ reciever internals
-Uppers?

At this point, I'm leaning toward a coyote gun.. long, acurate etc..

Looking hard at RRA because they seem to have a good rep, and make just about every upper a person could want. What other brands should I consider?

look hard at bravo company or LMT. Daniel Defense or Noveske is good too if you can drop the coin.

I've had too many problems with RR, Bushy and CMMG. Oly has given me nothing but headaches so I wrote them off years ago. sucky triggers, loose castle nuts, safeties that won't engage, gas keys and gas tubes falling off. just usual bullshit. A lot of it is stuff you can fix but I'd rather start with something that's not fucked up instead of trying to unfuck my new gun.

I have a seekins precision lower I want to build out. This will be a 16" gun for defence. Not a heavy barrel, long range whatever..

I have a stag arms lpk, but I am going to use that on a stag lower I have.. It's going to be a 11.5" pistol
I could use that kit and replace it with another lpk.. but I'd like to go big with this build.

Boz what would your parts list look like if you were building a lower.
Which LPK would you look for.. or would you put in a drop in trigger group?
I'm not above putting int a wilson combat, geissele.
I will likely put on a magpul or vltor buttstock of some variety...

I already have a 16" saber defence upper (it's been on a RRA lower but thats getting converted to a bull/varmit setup) It's got a free floating quad rail, and fluted barrel. Runs fine so far.. no issues.

Crap... now after looking at Noveske and DD, I'm not so sure I want a long barrel.. maybe another shorter barrel.

There are just SO many damn choices out there... I have a RRA forged lower, so whatever guts and upper I get will go in and on that. Would that be like mounting a diamond in an pot metal ring?
I want something at least on par quality-wise with my Colt.

Like Sunofnun, I'd like to see what Boz has to say about triggers....

I'm not the most knowledgeable but I'm from the school of thought where if it's mil-spec, I don't need beyond that. The performance return of a forged lower, compared to a mil-spec cast lower doesn't seem like it could be enough to justify the price difference. I could be wrong, for sure. But you see where I'm going with this.

But lots of places have a good name. :)

For lower parts if you are going to use a single stage trigger, I have had good luck with basic LPK's from Palmetto State Armory & DPMS. I still haven't messed with any of the higher end or dual stage triggers.

I plan on using a Noveske 16" Recon barrel in a mid-length Vltor VIS as the top end on the current AR I'm working on if I can get everything gathered up for a reasonable price.

Do any manufacturers use cast lowers? All I have seen since I have been playing with these evil black guns are forged & billet.

LPK - DD is solid but I think most are still made by CMT? I've used Chip McCormick trigger pack and loved it. Drop in easy, awesome.

You know, I honestly don't know if any do these days. DPMS and Olympic arms used to, I believe. I'll change my scenario to "forged & billet" or whatever else will help communicate it better.

I think most are forged (to the same spec). Where billet gets a chance to be different is with a more flared magwell, ambi bolt releases, integrated trigger guard and a few other cosmetic differences.

But I digress...
