so i noticed I had a bunch of money in my savings account and this confused me as to why I havent spent it yet. sooooo I quickly went to my local gun store and purchased an SR556. anyways i took it out shootin this weekend and put about 300-350 rounds through it. all reloads and straight out of the box, no pre-cleaning or lubing goin on here. I played with the adjustable gas system a little bit and left it on setting 2. setting 1 seemed to not load a new round, while it would still eject them, and setting 0 requires to manually charge the rifle each time. Zeroing in took a while. it seemed to keep shooting to the right, but its mostly resolved now. I think with a trigger job you could improve groupings. i think its a 6lb single stage triggy. I took the gun apart after shooting and the breach was nearly spotless. I finally got the gas piston pulled out and that was pretty dirty. barrel wasnt too bad. it comes with 3 magpul pmags (no window) a soft carry case that is ok, and has pockets for 2 of the mags as long as you dont have the caps on them. otherwise they dont fit. anyways its fun to shoot I like it! ![]() ![]() |

I have shot it, and it is good. ![]() I think the accuracy is pretty good for a fightin' carbine. Some quality ammo and maybe the trigger will "break in" a little and I think it will do 1 MOA at 100 yds. I may have to get one myself. Last edited by GixxerPete; 01-20-2010 at 09:07 AM. |

From what I hear, The Ruger 556 is a shooter ! Yet some owners are having problems with the rails on the fore grip.. Seems they loosen up after some rounds through it. I went with the new Bushmaster piston design as Ruger is new to the AR format. |

If that's the case, yours should be more accurate than mine, and it's not. And we were only shooting 50ish yards, it would only get worse at 100 yards. I call shenanigans. | |
