Hey guys. I was at a gun shop in tacoma the other day and was talking to a guy about AR's. I was interested in them and figured I could build one and just buy it part by part. He said I could, but that I could also buy a perfectly serviceable one for 560.00. So I went home that day and sold my Hi-Point Carbine (with my limited income I can't justify owning too many guns at once). I brought home my AR today. Iron Sights and a red dot should be arriving this weekend. I have some ammo. I'm learning to clean it right now (thank cthulhu for youtube), but if any of you guys have some sources on how to clean it that you would be willing to share it would be much appreciated (cleaning your AR for dummies?). I was just curious if there's anything else I should know. I've never shot an AR before and only conceptually understand them. Thanks!

So what did you buy? Where did you get it?

A 'Bore Snake' for 223 and a tooth brush along with Hoppe's #9. I use a plastic dowel for the rear push pin. (Don't want to scratch the finish)

I got a panther arms dmps oracle from Surplus Arms and Ammo. I'm pretty excited! I have a 9mm bore snake already for other guns so the .223 one is up next. I was looking at the hoppes #9 spray and the rem-oil spray as well.

Took it up to the woods today. It was snowing and cold, but it was still a good time. It was a blast and it's great to be able to shoot 30 rounds before reloading.

Are those pretty reliable? I was thinking about getting one. Or two. Or more.
