a few months ago i refinished my 22 rifle that belonged to my cousin while i grew up. He owed my dad money and left him the rifle. dad gqave it to me a few years ago and i always got embarassed to take it anywhere. then i actually did the Izzy range next to the highschool. Tha lady working the range slobbered over it in its ugly stages of life. heres what i did to it. it started when i refinished the green rifle. i did a family photo session of my 22 cal rifles.. ![]() i couldnt stomach looking at the scratches anylonger so i tore into it. i sanded lightly all the ugly finish work Marlin used at the factory, i left all the wear & tear on the rifle like scratches and bumps. i hung the stock up, rubbed in some Danish oil & let the 6 coats dry completely. then started spreading thinned out Verathane on it for about 15 coats then three heavy thick unthinned natural coats and let it sit (hang) 48 hours ![]() ![]() took it into the living room to dry at higher temps while too cold in the back room. Plus i could stare at it while surfing the net. (NO! my wifes Brownie camera isnt for sale.) ![]() after slight foldling by none other than me. i played with the camera. ![]() ![]() i put it together shortly afterwards because i wanted him whole again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() before & after pic ![]() now i have a slightly larger scope on it for target shooting & Varmints. |
