Here is a post I put up on 3-22-10 on another board.
I just picked up the latest on Friday. I was in at our local Big 5 a while back and they had a repro 91/30 "sniper" on the shelf for $500. It was more then I wanted to spend plus I thought they were in the $300's until I asked in another thread.
Last night I found out about a 20% off any in stock item coupon that expired today. Well I took the coupon in today to make sure they were valid on guns, they were. They still had a (maybe the) 91/30 on the shelf.
So for $432 (sales tax) I walked out with a new gun,
It did come with the bayonet, cleaning kit, ammo pouch too I just didnt lay them out.
The stock on the new one is a bit darker then I like but the rest of the gun and glass is in great shape. The receiver is marked 1940. I am happy with the buy. I have been wanting one of these for a while, but most of my gun deals are impulse buys.
Here are 3 I bought a couple of years back for about $350 total. I know I could have gotten them cheeper but they were on the shelf and I could see the condition,
I have shot the 91/30 the most.
Well got home with the M91/30 "sniper" today, took it outside and shot 6rds to get it sighted in at 25 yards. Stepped out to 100 yards where I was shooting about 3" high. Stepped out to 300 yard with 5rds. Hit 3 pop cans and just barely missed with the other 2.
I was kind of surprised that it was actually semi easy to aim on a pop can at 300 yards with the 3.5x scope on this gun. The point sits very nicely right on the can making it easier to hit. I am shooting the Czech Silvertip light ball.
