anyone favor lever guns??

i suppose i may be old fashioned--- i like the lever guns.. no main topic for those. so i picked this one.. liked the model 94 that i got from my dad so much that i put one on layaway. would love to have a model 94 in .44 mag as well. no fancy nonsense - just iron sights and lead downrange - i did find a .375 win. caliber marlin 336. may have paid too much - but layaway is great and i dont have loads of cash.. those of you in tacoma area, i swear by top kick pawn. low down and low monthly payments.. gets you the gun you want.. well till Oduma and his dems gum up the constitution. but enough. i admit the 375 has a scope. i know little to nothin about that gun - bought it cause it was lever action..

We have 3, 1949 Winnie in 30-03, 1970 Winnie in 44 mag, and a 2002 Marlin in 45/70.

I love them all.

+1 I have my Granpa's old 94 30-30 was built in the late 30's, also have his Winchester 71 (chambered in .348) which was built around the same time. Luckily I stocked up on 30-30 when it was cheap, can't say the same for the .348 though, it's REALLY hard to find and when you do it'll run ya about $95-100 per 20.

I am not much for the Winchester or Marlin versions but I do have a few Savage 99s; a 300, 303 Savage, Savage 22 Hi Power and a Savage 250-3000. The newest one was made in 1951, the oldest in 1914.

i pulled the trigger on a friends 45-70 for new years eve one year.. would not want to do that all day.. maybe i dont hold the gun right. but that recoil left bruises == laugh it uup -- i dont mind - been the brunt of jokes my whole life.. that is just the truth.. why i like 30-30 and .44 mag.. light recoil.. i want to enjoy my shooting experience - not have to recover from it.. i thank you all for your thoughts,. i really appreciate that.. if it ever stops rainin - maybe i can put some lead downrange... no money for range fees and my friends 5 acres dont have no shelter----

I got hooked on Winchester model 1886. I found one at a friends house stuck between his fridge and cabinet. It was missing wood and had a broken firing pin. It was manufactured in 1887 but its in great shape. I am restoring it now, one piece at a time.
Great gun with history.

I have found if you use lever revolution 325gr. hunting loads it does hurt after awhile but using the 450gr. HSM loads you can shoot all day. The HSM bear load is more dirty thats my only ***** about

Pre '64 mdl 94 in .32 Win special, had it since I was 9 or 10.. love that gun. Win 94 .22 mag, Browning .22, and daughter has a Marlin .357 mag. She shoots it well too...

i would really like to have a .357 lever gun.. win or marlin. they got the rossi down at big 5 and the stock is uncomfortably short.. so that is out. - tho the thought did cross my mind to buy one and make it into a mares leg - what would the ATF think of that i wonder?? would not mess with action - just cut stock even shorter and get a large loop??? just dreamin

Lever Guns

I just have a Henry .22, but it shoots great. I would like to have a Henry Big Boy in .357/.38 Special. I have a .38 w/4" barrel revolver and therefore could swap the .38 ammo between pistol and rifle. Want either a 20 or 24" barrel. Marlin would be OK, but the Henry is sooo nice. :hello:

say killer - have you shot the marlin 336 in .375 >?? i read some reviews and there are a range of opinions- what is yours ?? admit it aint nothin like your 450 - - but is a nice lever gun..

.458 is a funny round ballisticly. The faster it goes, the less penatration it does.

Slow your round down to 1400-1500fps range, and you will find they do more damage, and your arm wil love you the next day.

Yes this is about the 45/70 yet the 450 Marlin fits the bill, being we use the same projectile. (Cept I dont use nothing under 405 grains.

I have a Winchester 94 chambered in 357. The gun is the Trails End western style with the octagon barrel. It shoots great. The only problem I have with it is that the gun is too beautiful to take outside.

Haven't had a chance to pick one up yet, but I shot my cousin's Marlin .30-30 and would love to get one of those...and also a Henry Big Boy in.357...and maybe even a guide gun in .45-70...This list is getting expensive.
