Tried to zero my Savage 110 338 Lapua at 100 yards. I have a 12x42 Night Force bench rest scope. I zeroed with a laser at 100 yd had it checked by a local shop. Problem is it shoots 24 min. to the right.
Swaped scopes with my 308 goimg out today to find out if its the scope or rifle thats off. Anyone have an idea what to do. both guns are new.

I wouldn't think it would be the scope, Night Force makes an extremely high quality scope but I've been wrong before. What mounts, ammo, etc are you using and is it off at 100 yds

why you asking b ?
Rings are just as important, as well as the install of the scope in the rings. My savage 338 is dead on out of the box, good luck I hate chasing a scope issue

your rifle is going to shoot where it shoots. the laser is just for getting you close. scopes need to be adjusted for every rifle and shooter.

aim and pull the trigger. 3x

then adjust the scope until the crosshairs are in the center of the group.

How is it grouping?

Bore sighting is there to get you on paper, not finalize point of impact. If it's grouping well, and within the adjustment range of the scope, I'm not sure there's a problem. Having the scope installed professionally (rings aligned, proper torque applied) isn't that expensive. Probably worth it for you as your set-up suggest you want to get into very long range shooting.

As it turns out it was the gun. Took it back to the dealer, They took it in the back and checked it out, Determined the barrel was not installed properley. I came home with a New Lapua. I will be goimg out Sunday to try it out.
