1893 Turkish Mauser
Hello all, Im brand new to this forum. Glad to be here! I recently got a Mauser chambered in 8mm. Its in pretty good shape, crack in the wood near the muzzle, but that's it. Does anybody know much about these? Id really like to trade it for a Mosin Nagant, but don't know if that is even a possibility value wise. Any and all help is appreciated.

When you deal with surplus weapons like the Mauser and Mosin, 3 things are most important for determining value. Condition, condition, condition.. Unless you have something ungodly rare, value will be determined by the shape it's in. Sight unseen, a Turk Mauser should be slightly more valuable than a (non-Scandanavian) Mosin in similar condition. The Turkish Mausers are a slightly older Mauser design (WW1-ish), and anything Turkish will have a reputation for being a bit rough. I'd guess $150-200 ish for the Turk, and $100-150 for the Mosin. Why do you want to sell the Mauser?

I guess I want to sell it because it just kind of fell in my lap, I wasn't looking for one. A guy threw it in on a trade we were doing. I had a mosin a few years ago and I really liked it. So I thought maybe someone would enjoy it more than me. Ill try and post some pics.

A Mosin is only about $100. Why not have both? A Turk Mauser with a cracked stock isn't going to be worth much, but it can be a decent shooter. Have a gunsmith take a look at it, and start shooting. :)

I should at least go shoot it a little bit! I heard that newer US made ammo is fine to shoot through it, but not to use milsurp because it has more pressure behind it.
