I have open carried a few times before.... no negative experiences except for a few rubbernecking granola eating liberals. That said i prefer concealing most times because i just don't want to deal with someone calling the copperz on me :p

This is a very misunderstood topic and a great post to answer questions. I have noticed many more people are doing it lately. As opposed to not seeing anyone do it in the past 10 years I have seen 2 people do it in the past week here in Spokane. I am not sure if I trust Spokane's finest to not have a problem with it but thats just me.

Sometimes I leave my holster on my hip coming back from the range and have made quick stops on the way home. *shrug*

Big debate

Yes, opencarry.org is full og great information and great gun enthusiasts. One reason I was turned off by this peticular forum was the drama. Biggest being open carry (OC) vs concealed carry (CC). My feeling is, I don't believe either is better or worse. I believe each has their purpose and time. So my opinion on OC vs CC is simple. JUST CARRY. Lol. Although I think the OC.org guys are doing a great job showing everyday people on the streets that just because I (or any responsible gun owner) have a gun dosn't mean we are dangerous. A firearm is a tool, and like any tool can very very constructive in the right hands, or very destructive in the wrong hands. Just my 2 cents. But even though some of the drama turned me off, I still recommend people check em out because they are full of awsome info.

Keep it up guys!

yes you can, the pita thing about open carrying if you don't have a concealed weapons permit is that you can't have a loaded firearm in your vehicle without one, so that means you need to unload and reload every time you leave/get somewhere.

CJ: I went to Marymoor park with a group of people/dogs. One person showed up openly carrying his pistol. Cops didn't show up, nobody screamed and ran, nobody even gave us a wide berth as they passed us.

If you don't look like a thug, people probably won't give you any hassle. They might keep an eye on you, but that's not unexpected.

Reppin: So far as I've found, having the magazine loaded is not the same thing as a loaded firearm so long as that magazine is separated from that firearm. The actual law looks a little less clear about a magazine that is inside the magazine well, but not locked in place.
Stuff that applies:
RCW 9.41.050: Carrying firearms.
RCW 9.41.010: Terms defined.
Specifically from that second link, section (9) describes "loaded":
(9) "Loaded" means:

(a) There is a cartridge in the chamber of the firearm;

(b) Cartridges are in a clip that is locked in place in the firearm;

(c) There is a cartridge in the cylinder of the firearm, if the firearm is a revolver;

(d) There is a cartridge in the tube or magazine that is inserted in the action; or

(e) There is a ball in the barrel and the firearm is capped or primed if the firearm is a muzzle loader.

^^ Wow I'm quite surprised that nobody would freak out at a place like Marymoor Park in yuppieville Redmond. I'm pleasantly suprised, but definitely suprised!

Went to a house party in Bellvue last weekend and that same guy from the park showed up with his sidearm on his hip. No trouble so far as I know, but I was only there for a half hour after he got there since my group was ready to go home.

I play alot in the desert by myself, Sometimes I run into A group of others doing the same thing, I think of most of them as being alot like me, but certainly not all of them so I carry open when I'm by myself.
