I'm a big guy, 6'2" and 290lbs big, and I know that not all IWB holsters work for us bigger guys, so what in your opinion would be the preferred concealed carry holster? I'm hoping there are several to choose from. Thanks in advance.

I like DM Bullard Dual Carry holsters as they are affordable, well made and give me options to go IWB or OWB with a single holster.

Depends on the gun, and the purpose for carry. If you're going to shoot IDPA something like the Bladetech ultimate concealment is great because it's a full on quality carry holster, but it also is a great competition holster that will let you be as fast as you can be with an IWB. And if that's what you use on the street, I believe that's what you should use for play.

But for carry I honestly like the Crossbreed. I'm not as "prosperous" as you are. About 240 on a 6'3" frame, but my M&P disappears. The leather between the butt end of the gun, and my body really makes it comfortable. Even without a shirt between the holster and my skin.

I just received the holster I purchased from Clevland's Holsters a couple of weeks ago, and I've been using is since. It's turning out to be far more comfortable and concealable on my very NOT on-body-concealed-carry-friendly frame than I ever expected it to be. (Ample frame w/ more than ample curves.) I'm impressed with the fit and the workmanship. The price is amazingly low for what you get and the turnaround time was about a week and a half til I had it in my hands.

This holster is definitely more than worth the money. I am considering asking him to do one custom for me with a more upright default cant to the firearm-placement relative to the paddle (to be more friendly to the fat-chick body), since, on my body, I cannot carry concealed (or un-concealed at the waistband-hight) behind about 2:30-2:45. (body as a clock, noon directly in front.) Most people prefer to carry with this style at 3:30ish, just behind the point of the hip. The cant adjusts and I can make it work for me at 2:30, but is better suited to carry at more like 3:30. I'll post a picture this afternoon.

I even find this holster comfortable with my decidedly crappy belt that is as stiff as a wet noodle. (Next item on the acquisition list is a proper belt that fits.)

Do splurge for the horsehide over the cowhide. It makes a difference in terms of bulk while keeping nice and rigid and stable, which makes it more comfortable and more concealable if you're having difficulty in that department.

Hey Vince,

I'm your same proportions just a little smaller (5'11" 250 lbs) and I just picked up a concealment shirt and belly band from masterofconcealment.com. I love them both, you can conceal in just a t-shirt with the belly band if you wear it low on your hips. My preference is the belly band, but the shirt has a much quicker draw if you're wearing a button front shirt.
