Hi guys,

Wanted to let you know about a training class that will be offered next month in Olympia, WA.

The class is about up close and personal, bad-breath distance gunfighting. It also will include a lot of hand to hand material, Force on Force scenarios (airsoft), knife and ground work...in short, A LOT.

There will be three instructors in class, each with backgrounds in Law Enforcement, Military, and/or Martial Arts.

This is an advanced class and the description states that you need an intermediate class under your belt...but if you're interested please contact me. I'm offering a "warm up" class Feb 1, free to anyone that signs up for the 0-5 course. If 2/1 doesn't work for you, maybe we can work something else out as well...

Check out the class description and sign up!

Brent - I don't know you and what I've seen from you is positive. You write well and seem very squared away.

But any training class that puts money in Gabe Suarez's pocket or promoted by his company is a non-starter with me. He made my profession look bad and is a disgrace. We are judged by those we associate with.

Gabe's a controversial figure, and I know there are plenty of people that don't like him. But there are two sides to every story...

In any event, for me it's about the training. I started working with Gabe because what he says makes sense...logical, real world skills, no bs, and no range nazi stuff. Just good, solid training, done in a way that is engaging and fun. I chose to work with his organization because the training philosophy is a perfect fit with mine - treat people like adults, treat them with respect, make them repeat customers by offering an excellent product and delivering the best possible customer service.

I've done plenty of training where the instructors yell at you like drill sergeants. Well if folks like that, great, but I'm not in the Marines. I didn't pay good money to be yelled at by a high-horsed instructor, and I wouldn't put up with it. We don't treat our students that way.

I've met and trained with most of the other instructors in his organization and I have to say they're some of the most outstanding and genuinely decent folks I've had the pleasure to meet. And every one of them can shoot, fight and teach. Say what you will about Gabe Suarez, but he's put together a top notch organization that's filled with
outstanding folks, and I'm honored to be included.

I obviously can't speak to your experience with Gabe...but in my experience he's been an excellent instructor, mentor, role model and friend. Perhaps you'll spit up your coffee reading that, but that's MY experience. You don't know me, but I wouldn't be involved with someone I didn't respect.

But at the end of the day if you don't want to go to the class....just don't go.

You're right, I won't go. I'd encourage everyone to look into Gabe Suarez however and see who their supporting. I know there are always two sides, I've seen cops fired unjustly, but I've never seen a cop and his wife go to jail for a scheme that wasn't well documented and justified. Cops are protected by civil service and strong unions, if the case was solid enough for both to get convicted, that carries a lot of weight.

If that's the kind of guy you choose to associate with, that's fine but honor and integrity go hand in hand. I can't in good conscience support a dirty ex-cop who got convicted of stealing from those he swore to protect.

This is true and fair...and it also works both ways. Tell you what guys...folks on this forum that want to come train with me in person, as long as you come to me and pay the expenses, hell I'll give you some training for free. You can judge my character for yourself before you sign up for any paid classes. And if you want to you can judge Gabe Suarez based on the fact that he chooses to associate with me. :)

I encourage folks to look it up for themselves. It's an old controversy that's been argued a thousand times before. I'm way too busy to delve into that, and frankly I'm about as interested in it as watching grass grow. zzzzz

I'm far more interested in practical information I can use, in training and learning how to become as safe as possible with my friends and family...and dangerous as possible to my enemies. That's who I am and what I'm about, and those are the kind of folks I choose to spend my time with. Those are the kinds of people I had in mind when I shared the class link. Guys, if that's you, check out the class info. If not, that's cool, drive on. :)

People can judge the information and the training and I'm more than happy to let that speak for itself.

I'll give you my .02

Brent your new here and seem like a great new member. Thanks for participating.

Let's leave the past in the past. I dont really give a **** who gabe is or what the back story is. If you want to offer classes and training based on your own merit, and reputation have at it!

Boz I appreciate your feedback, and take your opinion at face value every time.

I'd rather not have a pissing match. so let's keep this thread on topic

Thanks fellas

The Premier training opportunity

I have personally trained with Brent less than one year ago. He is a solid, top shelf individual. It was top notch material presented in a way that makes sense in defending your life or the ones you love. It is no nonsense, fact based, real life training that is confidence building, thorough and well designed. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend this training but am optimistic of attending a rifle training course that he will be facilitating later this summer. Much has been written about the owner of the training company that Brent is associated with. I have read a little and ignored a lot. For me I could give a "ratsarse" who or what Gabe Suarez has been in the past. I do know he worked the worst streets in the country, dodged some lead and distributed some lead to those who were deserving. His experience as a cop will help keep me alive through the training his company now provides.
I urge you to commit to this training opportunity and judge the instructors and the content for who they are and the material they provide, you will not be dissappointed.

Hey Beaver, I know you. ;)

thanks for the kind words. :)

Yeah too bad you can't make this one, but the rifle one will be good. I'll be teaching that with Doug Little...he's excellent and I'm sure looking forward to training with him again.

Doug and I are just waiting for confirmation of the range (in Nampa, ID)...we should know for sure by next week. We have a back up position if the range falls through.
