Looking for a holster for Ruger LCP

Recently got my CCW, and have decided my SP101 is just too heavy (and bulky for a tall lanky gentleman such as myself) to carry everyday. After much reading, I picked up a Ruger LCP. Seems to be a great little pocket gun, although everywhere seems to be out of stock on .380 with the recent gun/ammo politics, so I haven't gotten to shoot it yet.

I'm not one to wear baggy t-shirts or jeans, so I need a holster that will conceal well with that in mind. I'm thinking high-rise IWB or OWB, in addition to a nice pocket holster. When I picked up the LCP I also grabbed a cheapo pocket holster that just doesn't seem to do the trick, but it will suffice until I find something better.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Where are you wanting to carry? I've seen people carry the LCP, LC9, Sig 238/9 and other similarly sized guns as appendix carry more than not.

If you're looking for something in for right hand carry (or left) then you have tons of options. My current favorite is N82Tactical (Nate Squared): N82Tactical I don't see a "Pro" for your LCP but these are the most comfortable IWB holster I've ever worn.

I have a Crossbreed SuperTuck on order but for the LCP I think they'd recommend the MiniTuck: Crossbreed MiniTuck These are apparently also very comfortable (albeit not pretty) holsters -- I can't comment further than what I've heard though.

But yeah, there are so many options. I've heard tons of good things about Dale Fricke (Dale Fricke Holsters), Safariland (Safariland), Harwell (https://www.harwellholsters.com/products), PJ Holster (PJ Holster LLC), Comp-Tac (http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog.php?...fl0lbmh8cum3i1) and of course there's the local boys, BladeTech (Blade Tech holsters).

If you're looking for IWB appendix holsters, a couple of the above have some that are good.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking IWB, with occasional pocket carry. I'm even thinking I may try the pocket-knife-clip-on-the-grip method too. The LCP is so nice and small I think I might just be able to get away with it for short periods of time.

I've wondered about those clips. They look super convenient. Give it a shot.

The only thing is with some guns there are parts/pieces that sort of poke at you. After several hours of that, it can get a bit much. But something as small and sleek as the LCP might just be perfect!

I've been using a DeSantis pocket holster for my LCP, works great. They also make a cargo pocket version that will stay upright in a large pocket and holds a spare mag.

Shelby, anything other than facebook? I'm one of the few computer savvy young people that absolutely REFUSES to use facebook. Never had one, never will.

Richard. Thanks! The N82's certainly do look comfortable. That's one of my biggest concerns. At 6' tall and 140lb soaking wet, I'm what some might call "one bony mother fucker". Meaning, nature has not provided me with much padding (not complaining :-) ). Those look quite nice! I really like the simplicity of the PJ (I'm a KISS kinda guy), but the whole hard-plastic-in-my-side isn't so appealing. I'm also liking the ProTuck and the MiniTuck.

I'll also have to check out the DeSantis, as I've read it's a good holster many different places.

Good to know that they work, I've got both getting shipped. Liked the extra mag feature of the cargo holster.

Shelby, just saw your last post (apparently I don't have email notifications turned on yet) and sent him an email. Thanks!

Dragon, let me know how the DeSantis holsters work for ya when you get them too!

Shelby - I ordered a custom holster from All Leather Holsters in Lacey

I ordered a clipped IWB, with a leather backing. It will be slightly smaller than most IWB's, so I can wear it either appendix carry or at 5:00. I'm too skinny to wear at 3:00. It will also ride a bit higher than most IWB's which I think should be a bit more comfortable on the motorcycles (since I ride daily).

He said the molds for the LCP are on back order at the moment, but once I get it in I'll let everyone know how it works!

So far communication has been GREAT (super fast responses, even on weekends) and he has done his damndest to make me happy and get me what I need.

Shelby, thanks again!

DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster Ambidextrous Kel-Tec P3AT Ruger LCP

^this is what I use. It is like 2 holsters in one. You get the pocket holster and the removable flap that makes it print like a wallet. The whole holster is a tacky material that clings to pockets for easy draw.

If you're looking at the clips, I recommend the the Versa Carry over the Clip Draw for a smaller pistol. I have a Clip Draw on my full size Springfied XD but I found it just took up too much space on the slide of my Kahr CW9 (which is bigger than an LCP), making it difficult to rack the slide. If you're carrying it hot, it's not a big consideration in a self-defense situation, but it was bad enough that I took it off. The Versa Carry is great, and it has the added benefit of being usable for any 9mm/makarov/.380 if you want to change your carry gun without having to buy more strips of the VHB tape.

Definitely something to consider. The VHB tape isn't an issue, I use it every single day at work. I've got an unlimited and free supply :-)
