After work last night, taking advantage of my mother in law(free babysitter) visiting us, my wife and I decided to have dinner by ourselves. Nothing big just went for some burgers and drinks at Red Robbin. Had one beer with my dinner.
While driving home I drove past a state patrol officer who quickly hit a U-turn and ended right behind me. I wasn't nervous because I knew I didn't do anything wrong, but had a strong feeling I was gonna get pulled over. So surely enough the stater hit the lights and we pull over.
Having my CCW licensed I was of coursed armed. Now I read conflicting arguments as to tell the officer right away you have a firearm, versus to wait till they ask if you have any weapons. And Yes i saw the video that was posted here. So I decided to wait till the officer asks. They officer pulled me over for not having a front license plate. And while speaking the officer smelled the alcohol on my breath. She asked where we were coming from and if I had any drinks with my dinner, which I said yes I had 1 beer with my dinner.
The officer ask if I'd voluntarily take a few tests, so I said sure. We just did the eye test and I pass with flying colors. The officer says I believe your fine, but would I voluntary take a breathalyzer just to see what I blow. She even said even if I blow above a .08 that she wouldn't arrest me, just have someone else drive us home. Which I thought was a bit odd. I said if I don't have to, I don't want to. The officer thanked me for being so cooperative and wished us a goodnight. All this while having my firearm in my chest pocket of my jacket.
So was I in the wrong for not notifying the officer that I was armed? She never did ask me.
