Tough CCW Oregon question

Hey there, I am a Utah resident, thinking about moving to Oregon for a private security position. I currently have my Utah Concealed carry permit, and Utah state armed security license.

Last year, in Utah, I had a beer in a parked car, as a passenger, off highway, with no keys in the ignition, while fishing. I received a misdemeanor for drinking as a passenger in a vehicle.

Oregon law states that a armed security licenses and concealed handgun permits will not be issued to people who have received a misdemeanor. Do Utah misdemeanors really count as a misdemeanor in Oregon? From what I understand, drinking as a passenger, in a parked vehicle, off highway in Oregon does not constitute a misdemeanor.

I'm curious as to whether or not I would be able to apply for a permit. On your concealed permit applications, it asks "have you been convicted of a misdemeanor in the last 4 years?". Would I have to say yes? Or no? It's really a tricky question, because a Utah misdemeanor is much different than other states. I'm originally from California... And our cop buddies would BRING the beer while we were fishing!

I will be pretty upset if Utah's stupid misdemeanor is the reason that I wouldn't be able to get a CHL or armed security license in Oregon.

I have emailed several sheriffs about this, and none have responded... I'm not sure if they just couldn't answer it, or if they just do not care.

I would ask a utah attorney about getting that record sealed, or expunged.

I would ask an oregon attorney about charges from another state and how that might complicate your situation.
