I thought that problem was 'fixed' on the 2nd Gen. guns?

The extractor was the problem in the first generation. There has been cases where the recoil casuses the charging handle to hit the front of the tube and I guess can crack it after time. Rrages.com sells a replacement buffer that goes in front of the charging handle and backs it up enough to where it won't hit the front of the tube.
