Mother's Gun Violence Open Discussion - 1/22 Portland, 1/24 Eugene

My gf was invited to a women's "discussion on gun violence", being hosted next week. It's a small group but open to the public.

It would great for other female gun owners (especially mothers) to attend and provide an alternative voice. They'd have the ear of two state senators.

Here are links for Portland and Eugene.

PS. Guys - don't crash this meeting and disrupt it however much you want to. It would make gun owners look like jerks, and gf says she'll test her pepperblaster on you. :)

Instead, send your liberty-minded wives, girlfriends, or daughters.

Gun Violence: Let’s Talk Solutions

Join us in Portland on Tuesday, January 22nd from 6:30-8 PM to talk with legislators as we seek solutions to our community gun violence problem.

We are still deeply saddened by – and at times angry about – the very recent violent and tragic events in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin (yes, there were mass shootings in every one of these states in 2012).

As mothers, we are still grieving for the victims’ families and friends. We are trying mightily to wrap our minds around it all, searching for words to use with our own children (if they exist), and are left wanting very much to find a saner, safer way forward.

We believe that the best thing we can do to honor the memory of the people who have been lost in every act of gun violence is to take a hard, urgent look at how to improve our very broken system.

Which is why we’re inviting you to participate in a community conversation with our legislators to find solutions to gun violence on January 22nd in Portland. You’ll hear from – and be able to talk with – local elected officials and other community experts on these topics. You’ll learn what’s on the table, what’s not (and why), and what you can do to help.

Not thinking it is really a discussion. Ginny never listens to anything.
Her mind is made up about two things: 1. Grab All Guns! 2. Expand Government.

If they were even vaguely interested in a fair conversation the would get the folks from OFF on the otherside of the table.

If Ceasefire is there there will be no meaningful discusson.

Yes they have not explicitly invited OFF, but it's an open event. I would encourage any woman to go and provide an alternative viewpoint. Otherwise, all the participants (and any press) will come away assuming that "Oregon Mothers support gun control."

This is a small event of 10-50 people, plenty of opportunity to share views. I think the attendees are open to alternative voices, if they're civil and well-intentioned.
