It looks like the first step has been taken. Now they just have to get 246,000 signatures.

"We're seeing more and more incidents, more and more deaths, and the public is paying attention."

That's kind if interesting, because I distinctly remember reading the statistics showing how there are less and less deaths and violent crime as the number of gun owners increase. Hhhhmm, I wonder if she is just making that up???

It doesn't give the details of the proposal other than to say that there would not be any exemption on BGCs for LEO or CPLs.

No surprise that the only perspective they asked for opinions on this is the anti-responsibility/rights... oh, I mean "gun safety" group.

Here is and article about it, and a quote from the Seattle PI

“The thing responsible gun owners often can't grasp is that it is impossible to separate the negligent or homicidal gun owners from the responsible ones. We can't follow everyone home and ensure they aren't leaving their guns in the reach of children and we can't determine who is a hot head and will lose it and shoot someone in the future. Murder is a future action. Same thing with mental illness. The only solution that will work is disarming.”—Robert McAbee, Seattle P-I.com reader

REALLY? Disarming WHOM??? Law-abiding citizens? You'd think people would get it by now, criminals will NOT disarm! This measure will only create more victims, just like every other control measure presented. The "gun-show loop-hole" is more Liberal lies and brain-washing rhetoric. As discussed on this board before, gun-show purchases still have the same BG check as in a store. What this clown (McAbee can't grasp is that 99.9% of gun owners will not "lose" their gun or leave it within reach of children. Any gun-owner with more than two rounds (brain cells) in his brain knows to train their children about safety. They paint gun owners and supporters as imbiciles. Wow. They do not look at stats nor pay attention to the truth.:angry:

Fool.

Really it's just another case of textbook hoplophobia. (oh the irony, PNWGuns spell check doesn't know the word 'hoplophobia' and accuses me of misspelling it) Anyhoo, these idiots don't understand guns, they fear guns, and as such see guns as some kind of evil magic talisman that will somehow brainwash an otherwise rational, non-violent person into a rampaging murderer, simply by being in close proximity. So clearly the only solution is to remove all the talismans (talismen?) to prevent that from ever happening. Oh, and somehow police etc are immune to the powers of the talisman, only regular citizens can fall prey to its magic.

Not to mention the willful ignorance of the fact that violent crime rates have been on a steady decline for decades (as reported by the FBI) despite more and more guns sold/owned, and that even by the most conservative estimates guns are used in defense of crime far, far more than to commit crime.

Mr MacAbee's statement is so asinine and illogical I don't even know where to start attacking it.

You are absolutely right. And I defy anyone here to disagree with you... doubtful there will be any takers considering the climate on this board. Hence, probably saying what others are thinking.

Problem is, people will believe him, no matter how assinine. He speaks to the bleeding hearts and panty-wastes in this state. Which, since WA is a Dem state, pretty much sums it up.

Man, where are the media campaigns going the other way? Where are the PSAs reading the 2A to people? And the PSAs reading the oath our elected officials are to uphold? Or the FBI crime statistics showing a massive decline in gun-related deaths? Or news reports asking, "How are we going to get guns out of criminals' hands?"

Seriously...

Exactly right, Richard. I've been asking the same thing, why are there no plans or at least some sort of proposal to target gangbangers, drug dealers... how about a "National Discussion" about "common-sense" measures to really crack down on the gang element. Sure, I know there are gang units in various PD's, but not enough emphasis is placed here. Basically, nobody is trying hard enough in that area.

But, apparently, our government is of the idiot ideology that once the bad guy sees that others are unarmed, he'll turn himself in..."It's just human nature," according to the twit Congresswoman from California.

Nobody in the media asks those questions because they know the answers, and don't want people to hear them as it doesn't fit their narrative.

No matter the facts the left tends to believe what it wants to believe. These are the same people that believe in revisionist history!
