My old grandpa said to me, "Son,' there comes a time in every mans life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take whoopin'. I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed. I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy. I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love. I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate. I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take whoopin'. Author Unknown |

I carry because I can, because it is my right, and if we don't exercise our rights, we will lose them. Because the 2A is the one that garauntees all of our other rights and gives us authority to fight to keep them. It keeps our government in check, and I want to be one more person that makes the criminals think "will the next guy I rob be the last?" Also, I choose not to be a victim, or let my loved ones be either. Not everyone is capable, or should carry, but I have the ability, the means, and the inclination to do so. I have the intelligence and will to handle a weapon with responsibility and safety, and therefore, for all of these reasons, I believe it is my duty as an American to do so.

I carry because when I go into the South Puget Sound I'd rather be prepared than unprepared. I carry when I'm on my bike because you never know when someone is gonna get pissed at you for something you didn't mean to do and try to harm you. I have a fiance and child that I'd like to see every night, and knowing that I can defend myself just in case is something that makes me feel better. I also carry because I'd rather be prepared for something than not prepared at all. | |

I carry because my holster would look silly with nothing in it.... ![]() Seriously though, you all make good points. Here is a great vid from Nutnfancy and his philosophy that I think is also pretty sound: YouTube - "Obligation of Carry" by Nutnfancy |

Nutnfancy has a lot of videos and alot of them contain philociphy about how, why, and when a firearm, knife, peice of gear should or could be employeed in a variety of situations. I carry because it is my god given right do defend myself and my family from anyone or anything that chooses to do harm, I carry because I know the evil in the world dosn't respond to kind words, to pleading or begging. I look for every reason not to use my firearm, but if my hand is forced and I have no other option... I train regularly safe handling, responsible usage, because I must. If I am going to carry I have to be physically, mentaly and spiritually prepared for the consequences of those actions. Just because you feel your justified, dosn't mean that the world see's it that way. I strongly recomend watching nutnfancy's videos, most cover gear, knives, and firearm reviews but he has a lot of good advice for new, regular and seasoned owners and shooters. I hope and pray I never have to use my gun, but I am also thankful if needed it is there. Take care of yourself and those you love, hopefully none of use will ever need to defend ourselves with deadly force, but chances are someone will, be sure your justified and can articulate your justification. So much to say to this, so many personal beliefs, so much good advice. Keep your head on straight and make wise decissions. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Just my two pennies I rub together.
