Need Help Planning a Trip East

Hey guys . I need some help. This will be the first year the boys can hunt. They are actually taking the class on their birthday so they can get their license and go on a hunting trip as a b-day gift. We were thinking mid late June - mid July for coyotes in eastern WA. I don't have a lot of time to take off so it would probably be a Friday night to Sunday afternoon trip.

Here's the real problem: I have no idea where to go. We'll be tenting it so I'm looking for somewhere that i can either camp where I'm going to hunt or a campground close enough to a place to hunt. I don't mind going and doing the scouting work ahead of time but I need a place to start. I live in Monroe and was thinking of somewhere just east of the pass. I've never planned a hunting trip before so this is all new to me. Any help you can provide on links, areas, directions, campgrounds, whatever is appreciated. Thanks.

have you ever been hunting? you mention never having planned a trip...

take the class with them, for starters if you haven't taken it...

as for where: check with the DNR and forest service for maps, as their land is open.

use the wdfw "go hunt" program (it takes a bit to wrap your head around) and google maps together and you'll be able to see land ownership.

Yes I've hunted before but i live close enough to areas to go that I've not had to make a trip out of it. The one hunting trip i took was with an old neighbor to a place him and his buddies had been going for years so i really wasn't involved in any planning there.

I was trying to use the WDFW website but it doesn't say where camping is allowed or list campgrounds near by.

I was thinking somewhere between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. Do you know the area?

By open do you mean i can just drive into an area and set up camp or just that its open to hunting?

dnr land is open to camping, check their regs, also check the forest service.

they each are open to camping, and each have their own sets of rules.

Just wanted to update everyone on this. I've booked a weekend trip to the Potholes for mid July for Yotes and fishing.
