Just be sure not to tell them if it's intended as a gift for your friend's birthday, or the clown at Big 5 in Silverdale will not sell it to you.

These guns are awesome. If you want a cheap gun that will give you tons of enjoyment, pick up one of these.

Nothing illegal about that at all so what was the issue?
That is assuming that YOU are buying it with YOUR money to give to your friend.

That's their policy, the corporate office says.
An email I got from them.....

Thank you for utilizing our Customer Feedback Page at Big 5 Sporting Goods. In regards to your feedback, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our store policies have caused you. I have spoken with this store, and I understand this is in regards to a gift purchase of one of our rifles. It is our policy that for gift purchase of a firearm, we would sell the purchaser a gift card, which could be redeemed by the intended recipient of the rifle (which would be held for them), who could then come and fill out the paperwork for the firearm. We do this to ensure that a firearm does not ultimately end up with a person who is prohibited from owning one. Again, we sincerely apologize if this policy has caused you an inconvenience, but we would be happy to help you with having the firearm set aside for your intended gift recipient. Thank you again for contacting us regarding this matter.

If I were ever to shop there again (which I won't) I would simply lie.
They have permanently lost my business.
The smirking kid who would not sell it to me never mentioned anything about a gift card
