So I have my CCW/CCP (concealment permit). Rec'd it about 2 months ago and from what I understood, this enabled me to purchase a weapon and walk out with it the same day. However, today I tried to purchase a handgun and they told me there was a snag so I had to wait till they got a phone call and if the call didnt happen in 5 days then I could pick up the handgun. WTF does that mean? The only reason I even got the damn CCW was to avoid the wait. |

They still have to call in. IF you are cleared then there is no wait to pick up the pistol. If you are delayed just like a rifle you will have to wait. I assume you are talking about WA. If you are in OR I have no idea. |

yes washington and I though being awarded a CCW proved you were good to go. I mean you cant get one if there is an issue. Just pissed that I wanted to go shooting today and the FBI call has me "waiting" for whatever reason. Not sure what the reason could be...hell I have a TS clearance and no record so there should be an issue. |

That's why I love Oregon. It doesn't matter what type of gun you buy. If you have the cash your in and out in 10 minutes assuming that you clear the background check.

The NICS check got you (The National Instant Criminal Background Check System) It used to get me every time too. I guess there's some guy with a name like mine that is not a good guy. I always got the gun but there was always a delay. For some reason last time I didn't get delayed. I don't know why. Maybe the guy died or is in prison. I have had a CWP for many years. You can fill out a form with the feds to get the delay figured out or maybe even fixed, but I figure anytime you mess with the feds all it does is create more problems than it cures. If you order a pistol and pay for it at time of order the shipping time applies to the wait period. Last edited by GregM; 08-18-2010 at 11:45 AM. |

With my ccw, I have had no problems purchasing a new handgun and taking it home within the 10mins after they call it in... Maybe, you have a common name??? still strange though because they record your permit number and call in using that number

On the State "blue" form is where your permit number and other info goes. | |
