you could do that but im going to tell you the best way one more time... its crayons son!
heat that metal up rub the crayon on, then wipe it ONCE with a paper towel. total time invested 2 minutes. you dont need to wait for paint to dry, use other chems to remove mistakes, and if you dont like the crayon, just heat it up again and rub it out with the paper towel and its gone!
You dont have to use a blow torch but it will go much faster than a lighter, I tried this first yesterday because i didnt want to find my torch and i said fuggit after i couldnt get it hot enough to melt the crayon.
several cleanings later no touch up required.
