Drove to Idaho and went Whistle pig shootin! Even got a weasel! Put over 90 rounds through my .223, and hundreds through the .22lr, about 50 through the .17hmr, these guys are TINY targets out far! It was a blast!

Longest kill with .223 is 193yards
Longest with .22 is 150yards

Too much fun!

Alot of nothing

Oh man, we lost count, if you drive along slowly they run along the truck, the vibrations must freak them out? Thats short range shooting, but you shoot alot!

Now that I know where to go, when to go, and what to do, I may make this yearly, or every other year.. Depends on the obamanation and all that bs.. Its a long drive, but was worth it!

I think as with any live animal, you need a basic license. There is so many people and so much land you could probably get away without one if you dared. But like coyotes, no tag or special anything..

yep... liscense required to shoot but no other permit. i've never been stopped by fish and game while out shooting whistle pigs. normally you're not in an area that's frequented by fish and game. i've been stopped by the sheriff before but they don't care as long as you're being safe i highly doubt they would ask to see your liscense. well, they never did mine anyways.

right now I've got a spot about 10 or 15 minutes from my house that i can go out and walk a fence line and just shoot and shoot all damn day long. the other day i probably shot at least 250 rounds of .22lr and a dozen rounds of .45 from my pistol. in a 2 hour period. ha!!!! we just walked down the fence line on the road and used about every other fence post to shoot from. maybe a 1/2 mile of walking tops. there are alot of young ones out right now that don't know any better so if you sit and wait they will pop back up. usually you'll have several "villages" within a few hundred yards of each other so you are shooting at one while they are popping up out of the other and you just swing back and forth.

i gotta get me a .17 hmr now. i'd love to start making some really long shots. as it is i've got a 4x on the .22 and can get them around 150yds but they get real tough any farther than that because of the wind and crappy accuracy factor of my .22
