Here is kinda a cool idea, post up your opinions!

Choice of:

Main Battle Rifle (MBR)- my choice is the JLD PTR 91 (H&K 91 clone) .308 caliber. Rifle for cheap and ez repair, dirt cheap mags dirt cheap ammo and accuracy to reach out and touch someone.

Assault Rifle- my choice is a AR-15 variant in 5.56 for close quarter to mid ranged targets, small fast caliber, reasonably priced ammo, accsesories up the wazzu,

Side Arm- my choice would be a Sig 226 or 229, expensive but quality made pistol, a little on the heavy side but nothing beats the fit and feel of a sig in hand, and deadly accurate.

Just my opinion for me and my arsonal. What would be your choices?

Main Battle Rifle (MBR)- I'd roll with my ar variant 16" lightweight with an aimpont + 4x mangnifier (I'd let em get closer than I would w/a .308 but assuming we're in WA, you might not get more than a 300yrd shot cause its all brushy out there)

Assault Rifle- AA12 Automatic Shotgun, hell yes I said shotgun..
YouTube - AA-12. World's deadliest shotgun!

Side Arm- I'd grab a springfield XD in .40 or .45 and probably the service length.. cause the tactical is big... and I don't see myself concealing it so the subcompact is out..

Ok, I'll play.

Main Battle Rifle (MBR)-DSA FAL Para Congo. Good for distances farther then I'm gunna hit some ****, plenty of power, parts are somewhat plentiful & 7.62 NATO should always be available.

Assault Rifle-Adams Arms PDW. Fairly accurate for 100+ yards in the right hands, gas piston so no heat gets to the receiver, shorty so easy to carry or conceal, AR15 so it could be reconfigured as whatever floats your boat at any time.

Side Arm-HK USP .40. If you have ever owned one & it fit you properly, you'd know why.

& for good measure I's sling a B&T MP9 over my shoulder. Easy to shoot close range squirt gun, not much climb or kick back on full auto, parts aren't so easy to come by but the gun is fairly indestructible so you shouldn't need them, 9mm so ammo should be everywhere!

MBR -FN2000, adjustable gas system, takes AR mags, shoots 5.56, built in optics, handles GREAT, have shot one and liked it a lot more than the P90.
fn_f2000_3.jpg

Assault rifle - M249 SAW, nothing says assault rifle like like the M249, able to accept mags in a pinch though linked rounds are prefered, based on the FN Minimi (see the trend) still 5.56 so ammo compatibility with the FN2000.

Sidearm, I'll stick with my G20 but ass a goshen-hexsight. The best compromise for power in a small package. 10mm FTMFW.
Glock20.jpg

And since people have been throwing in others.

For an SBR I'll stick with an HK MP10.
10mm, compact, big bullet with lots of energy but because of the large caliber less collateral damage from over penetration.

Just out of curiosity KMD, why would you choose a BAR over something more modern & lighter?

The bark of the 30-06 kept many a head down instead of up and firing

i hit you wif the 06 your goin down
and since the 06 is the most popular hunting round ammo will be easy to come by

Not tryin to thread jack or start an argument, but I just looked at a ballistics chart for both 30-06 & .308 & they both have very similar ballistics using same weight bullets. Why would the 30.06 be any scarier or better in any way & from what I understand 30-06 doesn't have nearly the popularity it once did so the ammo isn't as abundant as it was in the past.

well the .308 was the successor to the 30-06 lol, it would only seem reasonable that it would be the equal if not better than it's predecessor.

+1 I hate agreeing with Pete, but when he's right.... :)

MBR - FAL Para, Aimpoint w magnifier and BUIS.

AR - M4 w 12.5 barrell in 6.8, Aimpoint w magnifier, BUIS.

Sidearm - 1911. Period.

Although, i'd be pretty hard pressed not to just grab my AK when the zombies come. Who cares if it's not pinpoint accurate? If you're by yourself in a combat situation, you probably shouldn't be taking long range shots anyway.

My bad for not including BUIS, especially seeing as my current scoped AR already has them... doh! You never know when those batteries might fail, or someone fires off an EMP out of desperation.

As much as I like my 1911, for the zombie apocalypse I gotta go with capacity.. an XD45 is 13+1 vs a 1911's 8+1, that's 5 more zombies before a reload! Now if 9mm is sufficient to stop zombies (it's headshots so why not?) then I'd go for the whopping 19+1 capacity of my XDm instead.

And you do need to be somewhat accurate with zombies... it's all about headshots, remember? If I really wanted a 7.62 assault rifle I'd try to find me a SCAR.
