I am pretty familar with Rifles, But a novice when it comes to Handguns. The current administration scares me, So I decided to add to my "collection" If you owned a Rifle, Handgun, ShotGun that was a common round What would it be, I have a 30-30 and 22lr. |

I like the .44 magnum. I have two handguns and a rifle in that caliber. For the shotgun: 12 guage, hands down the most common and ammo is easily found. |

.22, 9mm, .40, 10mm, .45 rounds out the autoloader pistol calibers. 30-30, .223, .300 WSM, need more rifles. 12gauge, 12gauge, 12 gauge, I still kinda want a 10 gauge for sky bustin geese. T

![]() But back to the OP... 9mm, .40 and .45 are the most common/popular calibers. Me I like 9mm and .45 but .40 is a good compromise as well. As for shotguns, 12 guage is probably the most common. Rifles, AR clones are the most common defensive rifles, so that would be .223/5.56 but for hunting you'd likely want a .308 , 30-06, 7mm etc. So if I had to pick one of each for defensive purposes: .45 handgun 12 guage shotgun .223/5.56 rifle
