What's you favorite defensive ammo?

I carry Corbon DPX in both my 9mm handguns and in my AR15. I really like the results I've read about for penetration, expansion, weight retention and hard barrier penetration. It also shoots very accurate in my guns and has very soft felt recoil for a defensive round.

If it's still made, I used to really like Pro Load. If anyone knows of a distributor of this brand please post up. They used to make a lot of various custom loads. I believe they used primarily Speer Gold Dot bullets & new cases, not reloads.

Gold dot.

And I've heard good things about Hornady, so I'll be looking into it as well.

Gold Dots for my 9mm's and .45.

Just tried Hornady's new "Critical Defense" ammo for my .380 and I liked it, making the switch from Gold Dots there and prolly my .38 as well.

well I have a mag of hydroshoks, a mag of XTP's, and a mag or random hp's that I'm not sure on the manufacture of. All go bang, all will make something suitably dead.

Also have some cast lead bullet reloads that shoot a decent fireball.

Are those still produced for the "public"?

Aren't Ranger SXT's the same bullet minus the Teflon coating? I understand this ammo is aimed at law enforcement, but it is available here & there to the public.
