Suggestions for carry gun for wife.

She has small hands
She has a hard time pulling back the slide on my 45, 40sw and 380.
I'd like to see her get something in 40sw (if it's going to be a semi-auto) because it's relatively cheap ammo and I have a CZ in that caliber
I carry a SW 357 (360) but they are kind of expensive now.
I was thinking of a Glock model 22 but I don't know if the slide is any easier than it is on the semis that I already have

Suggestions?

+1 RC JIM's comment.

But you can take her to an indoor range and see what fits her. Spend $50-$100 bucks to find out exactly what she likes to shoot. Maybe get her in a class or two. Spending $1,000 on education isn't really that bad when it could very well save her life.

Also unless shes put 10,000 + rounds thru a semi auto over her lifetime, I wouldn't recomend that for her carry gun (or anyone for that matter).

Ruger SP101. Get a spring kit from Brownell's if your wife is like mine and has trouble with the trigger pull. Solid as a rock, built to take .357 mag loads all day, and won't stove pipe and jam when she shoots through a purse or pocket (You don't really think you're going to pull the damn thing if you have to use it do you?) If it misfires just pull the trigger again. Repeat until it quits going "BANG!" Hammerless is a good idea for concealed carry (CC). Ruger because I believe in them and they are built stout. For everyday carry, consider an ultralight compact revolver. But they are unpleasant to shoot even with target .38 loads.

Here's a pet peeve of mine. If you need more than 5 shots of .38spl or .357 to deter an attacker, you're dead meat anyway or should have been carrying a rifle. The odds of anyone with a CC weapon NEEDING (As opposed to wanting) large capacity are pretty small. Cops, soldiers, yes, large magazines can save your life. Personal protection? If you get in that situation, you're hanging out with the wrong crowd. Most criminals are cowards, simply pulling a gun will send most running. Actually taking a shot will send them running with **** running down their legs.

Ok, off my soapbox.

Stop being a troll. Where you came up with the above statement is beyond me.

he's not a troll lol and his statement comes from experience.

Before you even decide to carry a firearm, you have to know and have the expectation that it will take a life if used.

If that's too hardcore for you, get some pepper spray, or a tazer, but even those (although super rare) can take a life. If you can't accept that maybe you should sign up for Obamazombie land and just call 911 and wait 20 minutes for a cop to show up. I'm sure by then the BG won't be gone, taken all your things, raped your wife or worse.

It's a cruel, dark world that we live in, and being obvlious to it just makes you a victim.

At what point did the OP say his wife wasn't willing to pull the trigger???

The message about willingness to pull the trigger is valid, just in the wrong thread.

Um...yeah...expressions like "drop the hammer" or "when you see mine you are already dead" just scream braindead fuckstick.

The will to destroy, the mindset needed to kill another person is the most often overlooked, under-stressed factor in any personal defense scenario. But that was the singular worst expression of that fact I've ever heard.

You state the obvious.
(Although I can't figure why you think it is appropriate to say it where you did)
Try again?

nothing hotter than a cute chick with a gun but you might think about helping her a little with her stance :)

Please notice how Michael Voigt leans into his shot. Not only does this improve accuracy and look cooler, it helps with recoil as well hehe.

Wow
thats exactly the responce I wanted, Everybody wants a gun for defense but nobody wants to hear that someday the will have to use it, oh I am no troll, just the voice of experience. I have been shot at and shot back, wounding two assailants at less than 25 feet, one threw the head. I would suggest that all of you take a self defense course that covers before and after the shooting mental and legal,, Oh one of them had a pistol he had taken in a strong arm robbery earlier
Her first handgun try a revolver,,

I would say make it her decision. We can give you all of the recomendations you could want, but what it comes down to is what works for her, and what can she operate. I know several women who have no problem with strength or recoil for a .45. But since it is a little hard for her, as it is with my wife, take her to the shop and let her work the action on and hold/point as many as she can until she find one that fits her.

S&W for the win!

S&W 642 38 Spl. 5-Shot Airweight 1-7/8"/Hammerless.
When you need a lightweight carry revolver, you turn to Smith & Wesson's Small Frame Airweight Series.
They are the original aluminum, small frame revolvers chambered in .38 S&W Special +P.
Heres the deal, No slide to mess with. Won't jam, even if its inside her coat pocket or purse. No slide interferance with a coat liner or purse liner. Its not a physically big gun, but Its a man stopper.
