Knowledgeable About Guns/Value

Hey guys, I'm looking for someone that's knowledgeable about a variety of guns, can identify what they are and help me coming up with a value. Our elderly neighbors are friends of ours and the husband passed away a few months ago. The wife is selling his guns.

He had a cache down in Arizona and one up here. A family friend who owns a gun store appraised everything down there but she needs help with the stuff up here.

I'm going to help by taking pictures, helping with research (if needed) and posting up what he has. I'm pretty sure most of it is hunting-related stuff. He use to go on safaris back in the day (amazing pictures of him with big game kills, not to mention the zebra skin rug in their front room).

Anyway, with that in mind there is probably an assortment of hunting rifles and side arms. I haven't been over there to look at it yet -- she'd asked if I might be able to help though.

Oh, and one of the two big safes will also be available (she's keeping one for regular safe purposes).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I'm not sure how much help I could be with valuation, but I'd likely be interested in that safe.

Hey Richard there's a gun price list that you can use to determine value's most of the gun shops use it when they're buying used guns. There's a website that has the book for free, it's a PDF. I can't remember the URL but I'll try to look it up for ya bro.

Sounds good to me. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your neighbor, but it sounds like he knew how to live.

When they do get the guns, safe, etc listed and priced I would be interested in hearing what's available.

I've been hoping to get my freakin' camera back from the company assessing the flood damage so I can take pictures.

Josh, let's do this. They're really nice people and I'd really be honored to help them out. Doug was a total badass in my book (anyone that hunts big game, feeds the local village people with it and then makes a rug out of the beast is okay in my book).

I'm waiting to hear back on when I can get my electronics back as I type. Hopefully tomorrow...

Thanks Dieter.

I got my camera back today so I'm going to see about getting some photos and posting them up to identify things. My main concern isn't base-model information, but any variant detail that would be useful for a would-be buyer.

Stay tuned for pics!

My bad, guys. I actually got my camera back a couple weeks ago. Just need to do it. I'll call her and see if I can do this over the weekend.

Alright, so I got some pictures taken yesterday and we can now start on this. I'll tell you what I think I know about these items, you give input on anything I'm incorrect about or lacking. I'm obviously looking for value as well -- but primarily I want to be sure I have the correct models/options. I can come back with more detail if needed...

Quote the post you want to make a comment on so I can keep track of any additional info.

Detonics .45 Combat Master Mark VI 1911

From my understanding these pistols were the first 1911 style compact pistols produced and were mostly hand made with attention to detail. This version was made in the early 80's with production ending in '85 (with the Bellevue plant being bought out in '87).

There were 2 cases. I originally put the gun in this one for the photo but realized the other one said ".45 ACP" or something like that on it so changed it to that one. Basically the same though.
