2nd Amendment & Divulging Personal Gun Ownership

Would you PUBLICLY Announce Your Gun Ownership Status?

  • Since I open carry, it's moot.

I have a question for you guys, kind of a poll, I guess. It's a foregone conclusion that everyone here SUPPORTS the 2nd Amendment. When it comes down to it, I think each of us wouldn't hesitate to support that publicly. But I think there's a difference between that and publicly stating that you, specificaly own guns on, say, Facebook. So, here's my question.

Would you publicly (in RE or, say, on Facebook) proclaim that you own guns? For me, it's a matter of privacy, something I learned early on from my dad.

You need one more poll option;

"Everyone that knows me knows I have guns. Why would I hide that fact from my friends? Most of them shoot too."

Good idea, and I'd add it but that would mean re-doing the poll and not so sure people that have voted will vote again. However, again, you have a good point. Thanks!

Unless... perhaps the Moderator can add that one?

I won't go around announcing to people that I own guns, but if the subject comes up in conversation, I have no problem telling people that I have them, and why. So I voted yes.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. On occasion, I've told people we like to go to the range, within context. But I've had people actually be so bold to ask, "So, are you armed right now?" It's like asking me if I'm wearing underwear! Unless you're LE, you have no business asking if I'm currently armed. Problem with answering in the affirmative is people tend to get freaked out so it's really not their business, in my opinion.

**I tried to edit the poll but it's not editable I don't think?

Anyway.. I post up pics of shooting, and guns on fb all the time.. I'm often out shooting with friends.

I guess someday it might catch up to us in this digital age.. but for now I feel like it's ok.
