RRA LR-47 in 7.62x39mm Anybody have information about this new AR? It accepts standard AK-47 mags. Colt did this years ago, never really took off. Most had the goofy abortion mag in a standard lower but I remember some adapted for the standard AK mag as well. I hope this one works out. Smiths 5.45 x39 hasn't done much either.

I think I'm with Boz on this one... several companies have come out with 7.62x39 and/or 5.45x39 AR pattern rifles, with the idea being cheaper ammo = shoot more, but doesn't seem like the public agrees? I guess people figure if they already have a 5.56 AR, they could buy a couple thousand rounds of ammo for what a 7.62 or 5.45 rifle would cost, and while that other ammo is cheaper, it's not like it's .22 LR cheap. Now what I do find interesting is some of these new calibers like .300 Whisper or Blackout, with bigger grain bullets, subsonic loads and still have high capacity. Of course that ammo is neither plentiful or cheap, but it does give some choices for more oomph than 5.56 has, without going to the larger .308 round. |
