Hey, question for you guys about carrying concealed. Do the staff perform a physical search on your person when entering an event @ the Puyallup Fairgrounds?

I can't ever recall being searched going into the fairgrounds for any event.

The RCW, let me show it to you : RCW 10.108.150 Not sure what parts of the fair are considered an outdoor music festival, but I wouldn't go to any shows... |

It depends on what the event is for. The fair, no. But I have seen security durring the gun shows. I don't think they pat you down or anything, but they have a police officer there zip-tieing any firearms that you bring in so there are no NDs. I think as long as you are concealed, you are ok. But just like anywhere else they can ask you to leave if discovered. Oh, and the music festival thing doesn't apply if you are concealing with a permit. That is for OC only. |

To the OP: As long as there's no signs posted saying no weapons, you should be good to go. No laws about carrying on a fairground. To hawker: I wouldn't think that that RCW would apply to the fair, it's not an outdoor music festival. To BigStick: I know it's slightly off topic, but where do you see that it doesn't apply to CPL holders? The RCW only exempts LE officers, and nothing in RCW 9.41 addresses this issue. |

I did not click on the RCW link that he posted, I was talking about the general prohibited places from the firearm section of the RCW. I had not seen that section about outdoor music festivals before. That is very interesting. Outdoor music festival does not show up in the "weapons prohibited in certain places" section RCW 9.41.300: Weapons prohibited in certain places I presumed that any location not listed as prohibited was permitted. That seems to be the intent of the section regarding firearms. I am now curious which applies. |

I appreciate everybody's input, it was reassuring. It's sometimes tough to understand exactly what the law says and how people enforce/interperet it. Makes me very wary going into places that don't allow legal carry. Seems to me that wherever a criminal knows there may not be anyone armed, that's where you're a sitting duck. I don't want to be a sitting duck. My biggest fear, believe it or not, is stowing my weapon, then finding myself ducking for cover.
