Smith & Wesson is offering a 40% discount to active duty and retired military, with a limit of one gun per person. I checked with Bill Harper at S&W military sales and it's a liegitimate flyer and the discount applies to only S&W guns - not Walther. I asked because I was thinking a PPS would make a nice riding gun, but the Walther models are not included in the deal.

Example: M317; retails at $830, Sharp's price (Davison's catalog) is $665, 40% offcomes to $498... think I'm gonna get one of these.

do you know if this applied to former military who were actively discharged who completed their 8 years and just didn't want to continue?

Might have to take advantage of this while I am still on Active duty orders.

Looking at that, they ask for a copy of your ID as proof. For like the last 4 or 5 years, the Active and Reserve ID cards are the same now. As long as you have an updated card, your actual status probably won't matter.

Didn't even think of it that way. And you're right it just says Uniformed Services - ARMY on them now. Should be good to go then

Woo-hoo! I ordered an M317, and the guy who sits beside me ordered the 15-22. The guy across from me is going to order a Classic M29, and one of the guys in the office next to ours is going to order a 1911. I sent the flyer to the 120 people who also have/will order the unit commemorative SIG P229R. :)

Reminder: This deal ends 31 DEC 2009.
