I could use some help. When my father died, I received his firearm supplies. He had a nice 270 Ackley approved rifle and a High Standard Model B pistol, but also a bunch of ammo. Here's what the boxes say:

20 cartridges
ARMOR PIERCING
CALIBER .30 M2
FRANKFORD ARSENAL

Here's my question, what gun can I shoot this in? Anyone know what firearm this is manufactured for?

That would be std issue AP from most likely WWII it will be .30-06 ammo and suited to any .30-06. It will function in a M1 Garand or any .30-06 bolt action, single shot, semi auto, pump or lever action rifle.

It is .30-06 ammo. m2 was for the garand and Springfield. It will function in any rifle chambered for .30-06.

M2AP is known for being corrosive, so clean your rifle immediately after the range trip. Also don't take it to other states as some state or locale may have laws against AP ammo.

Considering the premium those rounds would command on the market, you could probably get several boxes of normal ammo in exchange for that one. I'd only hold onto it if you want AP ammo or for sentimental reasons.

Was used in an M1 Carbine.

WRONG the M1 and M2 carbine used .30M1 or .30 carbine ammo. Please see my post above for the correct information on this ammo.

By the way I currently have an M1 carbine a M1 Garand a M1903 Springfield and about 200 rounds of M2 ball ammo and 100 rounds of M2 AP with black tips.
