Even if you just put substations in schools, you'll have cops there a lot more often than they are now and they'll get to know layout. Cops are always doing paper, make them do it near our kids.

I thought that was a really cool idea.. I especially liked how the kids were able to build a relationship with the officers in a positive way..

I know when I was a kid I got to meet them in a not so positive way!! lol

completely agree. i made this argument when all the SHTF after sandy hook.
give them an office, or a front row parking spot, have them do all that paperwork on site at least..response time would be killed and they would be very keen on the floor layout.

I like the idea on so many levels, but there are other sides to the coin.

Having a police presence from the earliest age almost every day, all day? I wonder if that will make our kids stronger or more victim-y over time?

And of course this sounds wonderful in elementary schools -- because of how weak they are (defensively) and the fact Sandy Hook just happened. But what about Jr. high & high schools?

I only bring it up because the cop(s) would legitimately be there for one purpose -- defense against an intruder. But as seen in this video he was walking the halls, interacting with the kids, looking around, etc. And before someone gets their panties in a wad, I don't see some big issue with it right off the bat -- just pondering. But in a higher level school, would they actually end up patrolling the halls, acting more as a warden than protector?

I'm just trying to picture it 3-5 or 7 years down the road. Do we end up with a "police state" within our schools?

to add, I had Police on sight all day every day in High School.

many High Schools have had the same for several years.

In Florida there are armed security guards EVERYWHERE. They even have armed guards protecting your vegetables at the grocery store. Why some resist the idea of having armed security at schools makes no sense to me. I do have faith that when the rhetoric dies down common sense will prevail and the Feinstein fools will fail.

The problem with this idea is that it logically addresses the problem of school shooters and police response time, without taking away all of our guns... therefore, the left will NEVER accept it as a good idea.

Texas has had armed school teachers in some districts for over five years.
A well kept secret.
Only the other armed teachers know who each other are.
