That is some interesting info. I like the concept. Liberals are mentally ill and should be banned from congress.

HAHA. Kinda funny, but kind of sad at the same time. Most liberals I know are too scared of guns to own them. They look at me like the scourge of the earth! What is sad as shooters and hunters we probably do more to protect our environment and natural surroundings then most people on the left do....

(But seriously, I doubt there's any real correlation between gun massacres and political affiliation...)

Or political affiliation and mental disease. Although those that would claim such a thing do suffer from mental disease, it's called 'myopia stupidicus'.

Wow, you sure set me straight. I'm glad that I'm educated now. I think my whole political view just shifted and I can now see the light of the liberal argument...

Dude, relax. I was sumarizing a portion of the article in what I assumed was a clearly humorous exageration of the correlation that was being described. Nobody should be "banned" from congress. If their constituents elect them, then they deserve to be representing those people, however misguided I may feel those constituents are.

Well, there does seem to be some correlation, although that does not necessarily indicate causation. If the correlation was there on the conservative/right side of things, do you think the media would be pointing it out all over the place?

I would be interested in a study of the phycology of these people and a study of their brains. Too bad they always seem to blow up their brains. If there was some sort of causal effect connecting mass murderers and political views, I would venture to say that the driving force would be that the mental proporties that lead to mass murder, when twisted or taken to extremes, would be the proporties that led to a certain political view. Not that the political view leads to mass murder.

Sorry but I have a very bad knee jerk reaction when I see 'liberalism is a mental disease'. Not just because it's asinine on the face of it, but because it a very insidious and intellectually dishonest thing to say. It is the height of arrogance and a true sign of someone so narrow minded they won't even listen to anyone else's point of view. It says you can't or won't argue different viewpoints based on their merits, try to convince someone your political ideas are better. It is saying that people that don't agree with your political views are somehow mentally defective. And who would seriously debate the ideas of a crazy person? So it is dismissing any dissenting opinions or viewpoints out of hand, without even bothering to examine or consider them in the slightest. It is the opposite of healthy debate, it's poisonous and ignorant thinking.

And like I said before, anyone who seriously thinks one side has all the answers, and if the other side would just get out of the way everything would be peachy keen needs to give their head a shake, and pull it out of their ass.

What correlation? Besides Tim McVeigh, who I would classify as a domestic terrorist, do you even know the political affiliation of any of the recent mass murderers? They've mostly been young, high school or college age. They've made no political statements, nor were their killings politically motivated. They only statement they were trying to make is "LOOK AT ME!!!!" They want the attention, the notoriety. The Sandy Hook killer even stated he wanted a higher body count than Anders Brevik. He chose a school with small children for even higher shock value, to get more media attention (and he sure got it). These are sick individuals, but I don't think politics has anything to do with it.

It would be interesting, but no more than wondering if these people were Coke or Pepsi drinkers. I'm sure You might be right about the media though. If all of these had been "Gun totin', conservative, NRA-types" they probably would have jumped on the story. But maybe not. Even the media has a limit on strawman arguments... ;)

I really don't even know if what the guy says in the video is true. But I still think it's funny -- just like Colbert or Tosh.o is funny...

My fault on the missunderstanding this time. What I should have said is "if what the guy in this video said is true, then there seems to be a correlation." I don't know if what he said is true and I have not done any research on that specifically, but nothing from my memory of the subjects he listed contradict his assertion that all of the people he listed lean towards liberalism/democrats.
