I know this isn't really specifically gun related (although it could be), but I didn't know where else to ask it. Do any of you guys have big out bags and wanna tell me about them? It's just something I was reading about and wanted to discuss.

I have an EDC carry bag that should get me home.
I could break it down and list what it consists of if you would like.

I have several friends that have BOB's packed that constantly fiddle with them considering time of year, they always keep them in their car.

Our OathKeepers chapter has a recent BOB quicklist of what they consider "must haves".

Those group extras are intense. A silenced weapon or bow? Explosives? That's a serious kit. I keep a knife and hatchet in my car as well as some paracord and a leatherman. There's no firearm because my car isn't secure enough for one. I also have a tactical flashlight, matches and a lighter, sunglasses, gloves, etc. I'm thinking about adding a hat and a jacket to my car as well as a tarp or one of those sun blanket things, as well as some good shoes or boots and socks. If I had those things I could get home.

Yes, a tomahawk simply for the **** you that's why factor.
Yes I take this with me everyday, usually bag resides in my trunk, the pistol is usually on me or close enough that its not a theft issue...again, If i cant get home with this stuff I'm pretty screwed either way.

My hatchet is also a tomahawk. A CRKT kangee T-Hawk I think is the model. That's my take on it as well (if this doesn't get me home some red dawn stuff must be happening) so this a great template. Thanks shelbyguy.

Norm, do you have a list of frequencies to monitor w/ that Beofeng? I have the same radio, but bought it for other purposes of which you can probably guess.

For those who use a bag, how many practice with it. Backyard or overnight?

I've made a few adjustments since taking mine out and freezing my nuts off. Always have a compressible bivy and a lightweight hiking bag. Well worth the bulk and weight. Space blankets don't do a lot and are usually useless after a single use, especially if its wet. The large military style space blankets aren't bad (about the size of a large brick when compressed and a good snug pack is same size or smaller) but the little foil types are garbage and give you a false sense of shelter. Lighters and rods with tinder are nice and i have them but nothing beats a good crack torch. Lot of energy expended prepping fire tinder and wood so a good pull saw is awesome. Mine fits in a altoides tin.
