I got both my 91/30s and my M-38 at Big 5, but they do seem to go fast even at the $120-140 prices. Talk to the manager and find out when the shipments come in. Gun stores and pawn shops are a good place to look also, and I've picked up other rifles at decent prices from estate sales and auctions. I've picked up a couple in the past at the big gun shows, but prices now are pretty much the same, sometimes slightly higher, than regular retail. Some of the small club gun shows used to be a good source, but I don't know how the new laws will affect the small shows, they'll likely be smaller tho. I've been thinking of building a custom one, if so I'll be looking for a barreled or stripped action either at a show or "Gunbrokers" online and build up from there. In fact, prices at the online auctions are fairly comparable to retail prices, sometimes better but sometimes way out of line, you're sorta buying blind, and need to have it delivered to an FFL for delivery to you (usually about $25 for a transfer fee) after the background check (another $9 or 10), but they seem to be always in stock. Check out the surplus rifles and the C&R forums, study up so you know what your looking at and for. Some of those forum guys might make you a good deal as well, but again, make sure you know what questions to ask.
