i've heard a lot of good things about the .327 federal, what are you're personal thoughts on the ballistics of this specific caliber?

Obviously it is not as stout as a .357 magnum but is closer then you might think. I have read mixed reviews on it, with some saying its the perfect back up round and other saying its to small. Of course I hear that with the 9mm vs .45.

Here is some ballistics data I found on another site.

327: 115 gr (7.5 g) JHP 1,300 ft/s (400 m/s) 431 ft·lbf (584 J)

357: 130 gr (8.4 g) JHP 1,410 ft/s (430 m/s) 574 ft·lbf (778 J)

.38 110 gr (7.1 g) JHP 980 ft/s (300 m/s) 235 ft·lbf (319 J)

I had plans to carry this in an Ankle holster.
