Hello PNW Guns,

I am looking to purchase some Mosin Nagants. Let me stary by clarifying that I am not interested in either end of the Mosin quality spectrum. In other words, I'm not looking for a so-rusted-Hercules-can't-open-the-bolt rifle, nor am I looking for a so-perfect-and-flawless-Stalin-himself-would-break-down-and-cry rifle. All of my rifles are taken out and shot regularly.

What I'm looking for is quality metal. Absolutely no deep rust/severe pitting. Surface rust is totally fine, as is a completely beat up stock(so long as it's still in one piece) and lack of accessories; bayonet, sling and the like. In fact, I would prefer these 'lower-quality'(herein meaning the no one's bothered to clean it or fix the stock, perhaps it's missing a few pieces, etc) Mosins. I quite enjoy my monthly deep cleaning and tinkering of a new rifle.

I use the standard collectable's quality scale when dealing with any firearm:

Very Poor
Poor - 80
Fair - 100
Average
Good
Very Good - 150
Excellent - 170
Mint
New

The numbers beside the quality marks are prices I have paid in the last week for Mosins me and the seller considered that level. I should note here, please do not hesitate to send in a counter-offer. If my exact terms don't meet with yours I'm sure we could find some middle ground and both leave happy. So, if you think your Mosin falls into that price range, or maybe you're just sitting on a few hundred Mosins and your wife's getting a bit upset, and if you are able to meet in or around NE Portland, please email me anytime at:

In addition to cold, hard, cash, I have plenty of ammunition, as well as a post-64 Model 94 Winchester. The Winchester I have never fired, and has some small areas of surface rust. A few hours and some steel wool and oil would see this rifle sparkling and gorgeous, I just haven't had the time to clean it properly.

NOTICE: I also have a very special deal for any WWII sniper lovers out there.
IF you have a Mosin Nagant sniper, but you really wanted one actually dated-WWII, and:
IF you have a regular Mosin rifle that you aren't too attached to, then:

I have for trade only a 1944 Izhevsk Mosin sniper rifle, complete with original PU scope and mount, original leather scope cover, original canvas outer cover, original sling, pouches, cleaning rod, cleaning kit, PLUS 50 rounds of high-quality sniper rifle ammunition. I received this rifle as part of a larger trade of Mosins, and fell in love immediately(which is why I'm asking for a sniper mosin in return). The stock is a bit worn, nothing some TLC can't fix, and there's still cosmoline all over the thing(of course), but it's one of the nicer Mosins I've ever seen. This is a trade-only offer, and definitely isn't for everyone. The sniper plus everything(I'll even throw in a bayonet if you want one! Yes, they can have bayonets!), for a Mosin sniper(any condition, any year, any arsenal) and a Mosin rifle(again, any condition, yera, arsenal, etc). As I mentioned above, I prefer 'beater' Mosins, because I like fixing up the stocks, but the metal has to still be nice. Alternatively, if you don't have any Mosin snipers, but you happen to have a lot of Mosins, I would definitely consider trading the sniper for a set of Mosin rifles. I feel I should mention at this point that when I say 'Mosin', and am including all clones and variants as well(Type 53, M44, etc).

The sniper rounds, I am uncertain of. The guy I traded for them was adamant about their quality, claiming to have spent about $2 a round on them. I have dealt with him before and he has never lied about firearms; I didn't push the issue because they were free with the rifles he was trading. There are 50 rounds. I also have many many MANY surplus rounds if you fancy having some extra ammo, but I warn you, the surplus stuff is corrosive! I would pay the extra few cents a bullet and get non-corrosive for this beauty.

As with all my deals and trades, nothing is final until we have met face-to-face and inspected the firearms for ourselves. I don't want anyone to leave the table thinking they've been cheated, or even that they got the short straw as it were, and I will work with you as much as possible on this to see us both leave happy. Please note, I have very odd weekends, Wed-Thur, so if I have to drive to you, it will have to be one of those days. Conversely, if you are able to drive to me, I am available everyday from 11am-2pm. If you are driving a distance and offering a fair price or fair trade, I would be happy to help pay for your gas to get you here.

These deals are first-come, first-served. I will put a hold on the deal if we are still negotiating, so don't worry if you need a few days to decide whether or not to do it. I am a collector myself, and I know how frustrating it is to decide to buy a rifle only to see it was sold mere hours ago!

Please contact me via: [email protected]

Pictures are preferred, so we can finalize the deal via email and then meet for the actual inspection/trade, but we can also meet up first and then decide on price.

Regards,
Thomas Emard
