I've been hunting mostly public land here in Western Wa for the last 5 years, and i've only seen (and shot) one deer. Lots and lots of does, one buck.. This ratio is unacceptable. lol.. I keep hearing that the hunting in E Wa is better and less crowded, but I just don't have the time to drive out and look for a good spot on public land. My dad and I have talked about paying someone to use their land for a few days like we did back in Tx, but I don't know what areas are going to be worth the money. We've also talked about hiring a guide, but that shizz is expensive. We don't need someone to hold our hands or cook meals, we just need someone to say "that's where the stand is, have at it".
So my question(s) is..
-Does anyone know of public land where the odds are very high that 2 experienced hunters can bag at least one elk or deer? Not looking for trophies, looking to fill the freezer.
-Does anyone know a land owner that would let people pay to hunt for one long weekend (maybe 2 if we didn't get anything), and not charge a fortune?
-Does anyone know a guide in E Wa that will just tell us where to set up and not charge us an arm and a leg?
Thoughts..? Thanks..
And just to get everyones juices flowing. My last deer.
