Hey,

Im new to the forum. Im mostly a rifle guy but enjoy all things guns and Im interested in taking the next step and learning to reload. Im a veteran and currently a full time college student. Sucks that I dont have more cash for guns but I plan on expanding my arsenal when I graduate.

Anyways, glad to be hear and hope to learn a few things from those who have some serious experience in reloading.

-Cheers

Thanks all.

About the rifles sun,

I use a savage .270 for most hunting. Remington vtr in .22-250 for yotes. Bushmaster carbine in .223 for when the world ends, haha.

My critter killer is a savage 93r17 trr and I plink with a Marlin 925.

I also have an Enfield 1903 in 30-06 that my Grandfather gave me. I have shot it a few times and may use it for general deer season this year to make him happy.

I also started distance shooting and use a remington 700 sps in .308. Im trying to figure out how to post pics and should have photos up soon.

Thanks man, Yeah those toys are fun. Coyote season is pretty much over now cause the coats are getting shitty. Good news for dogs, bad news for chucks, haha.

Right now Im okay out to 700. Just need alot more practice. I see no reason that with the setup I have on that .308 that I cant be consistant at 1000yds. Im using Nikon's "Spot On" Ballistic calculator, and if you havent tried it yet, it is an absolute must. It is free just go to Nikon Spot On&#153 Ballistic Match Technology Program. YOu can calculate any load you want and set your zero distance then the program tells you where every point on your reticle will corrsponde at every magnification. So far I have not missed using the holds it has given me out to 700

I've only shot out just past 200 yards, and never for accuracy, but I've always wanted to!

I finally found myself a nice little spot for much farther than I'd ever want to shoot, so GAME ON as soon as I find myself a nice day for it.

*I do have to say, I miss Idaho's open areas. There's just nothing around here that can compare to Southern Idaho. (I lived in New Plymouth, Nampa, Pocatello, and my wife is from Twin Falls)

Yeah most of my hunting keeps my shots within 200yds as well.

But there is something fun about shooting your rifle and have the range totally quiet by the time the "ping" from the gong is heard.

If I had to pick though, Id pick 200 yd hunting shots over distance shooting any day. And yes I agree 100% about loving the open ground in SE Idaho. If i get lucky enough to draw a speedgoat tag this year, I may just use my distance gun, hehe.

My buddy uses that exact model for varmints and he loves it. I have shot it a few times, nice feel with that thumbhole laminate stock.

THe trr feels lighter that the normal 93r17s probably cause of the fluting and composite stock. Buth the action feels different too witht the oversized bolt knob.

Have you turned your accutrigger down yet? I tried the 1.5 lbs that the manual says is the lower limit, and I turned it back up a little. That 1.5 is crazy sensitive.

How do I post a pic in the thread?
